India opened its account at the FISU Summer World University Games with three gold medals at the start of the medal events on 29 July 2023 in Chengdu, China. The 32nd edition of the Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) World University Games is being organised in Chengdu, China from July 28 to August 8, 2023. More than 560 universities from 46 countries are participating in this prestigious event.
The Indian women's team of Manu Bhaker, Yashaswini Deswal and Abhidanya Patil won the gold medal in the 10 m air pistol event, leaving behind China and Iran.
Manu Bhaker also won gold in the women's individual 10m air pistol. Hungary's Fabian Sara won the silver medal while Chinese Taipei's Yu-Ju Chen earned the bronze.
