DPIIT Hosts Startup India Innovation Week from 10th-18th January 2024 Important Day 4 min read

The DPIIT is organising ‘Startup India Innovation Week’ from 10 to 18 January 2024. This year, the 'Startup India' initiative is celebrating its eighth anniversary. It commenced in 2016.

Conducting Ask Me Anything (AMA) Session:

  • 'Startup India Innovation Week 2024' began on January 10 with an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session with ‘Ecosystem Enablers’.
  • Eight virtual Ask Me Anything live sessions are being held from January 10 to 17 with stakeholders to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship in India.
  • On January 10, 2024, the Ask Me Anything session focused on 'Opportunities for emerging startups through incubators'.

MAARG Mentorship Series for New Entrepreneurs:

  • The inaugural MAARG Mentorship Series session for aspiring entrepreneurs centred on 'From Idea to Execution - Building a Solid Business Plan.' Key topics covered included:
    • Converting entrepreneurial ideas into a business plan
    • Involving Participants
    • Insights were shared in the process of explaining the basic principles.
  • This session was also organised on MY Bharat portal for aspiring entrepreneurs.

‘Startup Shala’ for comprehensive assistance to startups:

  • 'Startup Shala' - Startup India's flagship accelerator program was launched to comprehensively support startups in the scaleup stage.
  • This initiative is a 3-month accelerator program for new startups.
  • It gives them access to the knowledge, networks, funds or guidance they need to move forward. 
    • Each program group will focus on a particular area, with the first being the clean tech sector.
  • On January 10, 2024, 9 such exciting events took place physically in 9 cities across 7 different states.
  • More than 845 entrepreneurs and student entrepreneurs participated in it.

Second Ask Me Anything session:

  • The second session of Ask Me Anything focused on 'Innovation at the Intersection'.
  • This happened with leading corporates actively engaging with startups.

Programs to encourage innovation in the country:

  • 14 events were physically held in 12 cities across 9 states, showcasing innovations across the country.
  • These events saw active participation from startups and entrepreneurs. In this, programs were organised for different sections. in which mainly
    • An Ideathon for Student Entrepreneurs
    • Women-led startup showcase
    • Included a panel on exploring deeptech frontiers and IPR strategies.

About Startup India: 

  • Launched by PM Narendra Modi on January 16, 2016.
  • It was launched as a call to the country's innovators, entrepreneurs and thinkers to lead sustainable economic growth and create large-scale employment opportunities.
