Christoper Nolan directed film Oppenheimer won seven awards at the 96th Oscar awards ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood , California, the United States of America on 10 March 2024. The film won in the major category of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actor in a Supporting Role category.

Considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in the field of cinema, the film Oppenheimer led the nomination category with 13 nominations followed by Poor Things with 11, Killers of the Flower Moon with 10 and Barbie with eight at the  the 96th Academy Awards,also known as Oscar awards.

Oppenheimer Film 

The Oppenheimer film is an American-British biographical film based on the American Physicist J.Robert Oppenheimer. The film Oppenheimer was based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography of  Robert Oppenheimer “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer (2005).” The biography was written by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin.

Robert Oppenheimer played a crucial role in the  American government’s Project Manhattan to develop a nuclear bomb in 1940’s. Manhattan is an area in New York City where the majority of the research was being undertaken in the United States regarding the nuclear bomb. Hence the Project was code named Project Manhattan.
