Renowned Bollywood art director Nitin Desai tragically passed away on August 2, 2023. His lifeless body was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his ND Studio in Karjat, Mumbai. 

The postmortem report confirmed death by hanging. The late Desai's funeral took place on August 4, 2023, in Mumbai, where several prominent stars bid him a tearful farewell.

Victims of poor economic conditions

  • It has been reported that Nitin Desai was facing financial challenges and was burdened with a debt of Rs 180 crore, which eventually escalated to Rs 252 crore. 

  • Furthermore, the NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal), Mumbai bench issued a judgment on July 25, ordering the initiation of Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) against Nitin Desai's company, ND Key Art World Private Limited. The bench appointed Jitendra Kothari as the interim resolution professional to undertake necessary actions under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

  • Nitin Desai had a successful career and collaborated with prominent film directors such as Ashutosh Gowariker, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

  • He worked on the sets of various acclaimed films, including Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Badshah, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Parinda, Dostana, Lagaan, Swadesh, Gandhi - My Father, Jodha Akbar, and Fashion.

  • His artistic contributions left a lasting impact on the industry.
