Australia has won the title by defeating India in the final of the 15th ICC Under-19 ODI World Cup 2024. This match of the Under-19 World Cup was played on 11 February 2024 at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, South Africa. In which Australia defeated India by 79 runs.
- In this match, the captain of the Indian team was Uday Saharan, while the Australian team was captained by Hugh Wiebgen.
The final match went like this:
- Chasing the target of 254 runs in Benoni, South Africa, the Indian team was all out for 174 runs in 43.5 overs. For India, opener Adarsh Singh scored the highest 47 runs. Raf McMillan and Mahli Beardman took 3-3 wickets for Australia.
- Earlier, the Australian team won the toss and elected to bat and scored 253 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. Harjas Singh scored the highest 55 runs. While captain Hugh Weibgen was out after scoring 48 runs and Harry Dixon was out after scoring 42 runs. For India, Raj Limbani took 3 wickets and Naman Tiwari took 2 wickets.
Australia wins fourth Under-19 title:
- Australia has won the fourth title overall by defeating India for the first time in the final of the Under-19 World Cup tournament.
- Earlier, Australia had won the title in the years 1998, 2002 and 2010. Australia became champion in 2010 by defeating Pakistan by 25 runs.
- Whereas the Indian team has won this title a total of five times. India has won this match in the years 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022.
Kwena Maphaka became Player of the Tournament:
- The biggest achievement for host South Africa was fast bowler Kwena Maphaka being selected as the Player of the Tournament of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
- Maphaka took the highest number of wickets in the tournament with 21 wickets.
- Maphaka left behind players like Soumya Pandey, Musheer Khan, Jewel Andrew, Hugh Wiebgen and Uday Saharan.
