Australian all rounder Ashleigh Gardner and the English seamer Chris Woakes have been named as the ICC player of the month for July 2023 in the female and male category respectively. The award was announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on 15 August 2023 .
Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner becomes the first player to win back-to-back awards. She was also chosen as the ICC women player of the month June 2023. She won her fourth ICC Women’s Player of the Month prize following her brilliant performances against England and Ireland in July.
England seamer Chris Woakes won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for his contributions with the ball. His bowling performance helped the England side draw the Ashes series with Australia 2-2.
The monthly award was started by ICC in January 2021. Every month a male and female cricketer is chosen by votes casted by the fans registered with the ICC website, and a specialist panel comprising ICC Hall of Fame players , former international players, and media representatives.
It is an international body which governs the men’s and women’s international cricket.
It was founded as the Imperial Cricket Conference in 1909 and was later converted into the International Cricket Conference in 1965.
In 1987 it was renamed as the International Cricket Council.

Full members: There are 12 full member countries which are qualified to play test matches. They are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan.
Ireland and Afghanistan were granted full membership in 2017.
Associate members: There are 94 Associate members. They are not authorised to play test cricket but they do participate in other tournaments of ICC or at the regional level recognised by ICC.
