Those who want to appear for the UPSC IES/ISS Recruitment 2024 must ensure that they are eligible to apply for the examination. Before applying for the exam, candidates should review the eligibility criteria, which include parameters such as nationality, age limit, and educational qualification.
A candidate must be either:-
(a) a citizen of India; or
(b) a subject of Nepal; or
(c) a subject of Bhutan; or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962, intending to permanently settle in India; or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated to India from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia, or Vietnam:
A candidate must be at least 21 years old and under 30 years old on August 1, 2024, which means they must have been born between 02 August 1994 and 01 August 2003.

Candidates belonging to the general category can appear for the UPSC IES/ISS examination 6 times and for OBC candidates it is 9 times. There is no limit to attempts for SC/ST candidates. The candidates willing to attend the examination must satisfy all the eligibility criteria like age, nationality, and minimum educational qualification criteria.

Candidates have to pass each stage of the examination then they will proceed to the next stage of the selection process. The selection process is divided into two parts by the commission which is explained below.
The written exam includes both objective multiple-choice questions and descriptive-type papers. The common papers on General English and General Studies for both the Indian Economic Service and the Indian Statistical Service will be subjective. All subjects will have conventional (essay) question papers. Candidates should be aware that the question paper will be in English and that they will be required to write in English only.
The candidate will be interviewed by a board of competent and impartial observers who will have a record of his/her career. The purpose of the interview is to determine his or her suitability for the service for which he or she has applied. The candidate will be expected to have taken an intelligent interest not only in his or her academic subjects but also in events taking place around him or her, both within and outside his/her own State or Country as well as in modern currents of thought and in new discoveries. The Board will pay special attention to assessing intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, judgment, alertness of mind, social cohesion, character integrity, initiative, and leadership capacity.
Both IES and ISS candidates will take a written examination worth 1000 marks. Candidates for the India Statistical Service must write objective and descriptive papers. Descriptive papers include both short-answer and long-answer questions. Candidates who have registered for this exam can obtain their UPSC IES Admit Card 2024 from the UPSC's official website, i.e. upsconline.nic.in. It is necessary to bring the UPSC IES/ISS Admit Card, as well as a valid photo ID proof, to the examination.
