UP TET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Before applying online for the UP TET 2026 Exam, candidates must check that they fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the UPESSC. Only those candidates whose qualifications are recognized by NCTE, UGC, or RCI can apply for this state-level teaching eligibility exam. Final-year candidates are also eligible to apply, only if they meet the required eligibility at the time of application.

UPTET Age Limit 2026

The age limit for UP TET 2026 is set by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) for both posts.

• Age Limit for Primary Level (Class 1 to 5): The minimum age required for candidates is 18 years. 
• Age Limit for Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8): For the Upper Primary Level as well, the minimum age is 18 years.

UPTET Application Fee 2026

Important Documents Required for UP TET 2026

Candidates applying for the UP TET 2026 Exam must keep all the necessary documents ready while filling out the application form to ensure a smooth and error-free process. The list of important documents required is given below:

• Academic mark sheets such as Class 10 and 12 certificates, graduation mark sheets, and other relevant educational qualifications.
• Declaration Statement of the candidates ( by hand on a plain sheet of paper)
• Recent passport-size photograph (as per prescribed format)
• Scanned signature
• Photo ID proof issued by the government, such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, etc.
• Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) issued by the concerned authority, if applicable

UPTET Selection Process 2026

The UP TET 2026 is a qualifying exam conducted by the UPESSC for candidates who want to become teachers for Classes 1 to 8 in Uttar Pradesh Government Schools. Candidates can choose to appear for only Paper 1, Paper 2, or both papers, depending on the level they wish to teach according to their eligibility.

• Paper I (Primary Level): Paper I is conducted for candidates who want to teach students from Classes 1 to 5. This paper evaluates candidates for subjects like Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I & II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. This paper is designed to assess teaching aptitude and understanding of the candidates of primary-level concepts.
• Paper II (Upper Primary Level): Paper II is for candidates who wish to teach Classes 6 to 8. This paper checks your understanding of Child Development and Pedagogy, two languages, and subjects like Mathematics and Science or Social Studies. Paper 2 focuses on evaluating candidate’s subject knowledge and teaching ability.
• Both Papers (Classes 1 to 8): Candidates who wish to teach Classes 1 to 8 must appear for both Paper I and Paper II. Qualifying both papers makes them eligible for both teaching posts in government schools of Uttar Pradesh.

Note: Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in each to get the UPTET eligibility certificate.

UPTET Exam Pattern 2026

The UP TET Exam 2026 will be conducted in offline mode with objective-type (MCQ-based) questions for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates must understand the UPTET exam pattern to start their exam preparation in correct direction. 

• Both papers of UPTET will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
• Each paper will have 150 questions carrying 150 marks.
• Each question carries 1 mark.
• There is no negative marking in any paper for wrong answers.
• Candidates need to score the following minimum qualifying marks:
  • General Category: Minimum 60% marks (90 out of 150).
  • Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD, etc.): Minimum 55% marks (82 out of 150)
• The duration of each paper is 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes).

UPTET Syllabus 2026

The UP TET Admit Card 2026 will be released on 30 June 2026 on the official website of the UPESSC. UPTET Answer Key PDF 2026

The UP TET Result 2026 will be announced by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) after the successful completion of the examination. The result will be released in the PDF format in online mode with a list of the shortlisted candidates. Those who meet the minimum qualifying marks will be awarded the UPTET eligibility certificate.

UPTET Cut-Off Marks 2026

UPTET Applicability 2026

Candidates who pass the UP TET 2026 by securing the minimum scores will be considered eligible to apply for the teaching posts in various schools across Uttar Pradesh. Primary Level (Class 1 to 5)

Candidates who qualify for the Primary level teaching will be eligible for:

• Schools run by the Uttar Pradesh State Government.
• Local body schools recognized by the Uttar Pradesh Government or Basic Education Board.
• Schools receiving financial assistance from the UP Government.
• Schools affiliated with any recognized national education board and holding a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the Uttar Pradesh State Government.

Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8)

Candidates who qualify for the Upper Primary level will be eligible for:

• Schools run by the UP State Government.
