UP Police Sub Inspector Eligibility Criteria 2023

Before applying for the Sub Inspector and ASI positions, candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility requirements set by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB). The eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit, physical standards and educational qualification.

a. Nationality

A candidate for recruitment must:-

(a) be a citizen of India, or

(b) a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 to permanently settle in India,

 or

(c) a person of Indian origin who has moved to India from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, or any East African country of Kenya, Uganda, or the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar) intending to settle permanently.

b. Age (as on 01 July 2023)

The minimum age for the UPSI post is 21 years and the maximum is 28 years (candidates must not be born before 01 July 1995 and not after 01 July 2022). This is the age limit for the candidates belonging to the general category. 

On the other hand, candidates from the reserved category will be provided following relaxation in the upper age limit under government rules.

c. Educational Qualifications :

The essential educational qualification required for each post under UP Police Recruitment 2023 is mentioned in the table below:

Police ASI (Clerk)

  • Graduation in any stream from a recognized University

Character

The candidate's character should be such that he/she is suitable for employment in government service in every way. In this regard, the decision of the appointing authority will be final.

Marital Status

A male/female candidate who has more than one wife/husband living is ineligible for appointment to a position in the Service, as is a female candidate who has married a man who already has one wife living.

Note: However, the Government may exempt any person from applying this rule if it determines that a special reason exists.

Physical & Medical Standards

No candidate shall be appointed to the service unless he is in good mental and bodily health and is free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his duties. 

Candidates can review the criteria for height, weight and chest measurements. Candidates will only be considered for selection if they meet this eligibility standard.

Before a candidate is finally considered for the next stage of the examination, he/she must pass the Medical examination conducted by the Medical Board of Uttar Pradesh Police. 

Note: Candidates will be tested for deficiencies such as knock knees, bow legs, flat feet, varicose veins, far and near vision, colour blindness (partial & total), hearing etc.

UP Sub-Inspector Application Process 2023

The UP Police SI online application process will begin on 07 January 2024 and end on 31 January 2024. After the link is activated on the official website, eligible candidates interested in UP SI Examination 2023 can submit their online application form through the official website. 

Here is a step-by-step guide to apply for the UP SI 2023 Recruitment:

Step 1: Navigate to the official website of the UPPRPB by clicking on the link above.

Step 2: On the homepage, you will get a link to “apply online for UP Police Sub Inspector 2023 Recruitment” under the Top Notice segment.

Step 3: You will be redirected to a new page where you must register yourself first.

Step 4: After registration, log in with your registration ID and Password to fill out the application form with all the required information.

Step 5: Upload all required documents as specified in the application guidelines. Check that these documents meet the requirements for successful submission.

Step 6: Pay the application fee corresponding to your category and submit the application form.

Step 7: After submitting the application form, print a copy of the final submission for your records.

UPSI Selection Process 2023

The selection process for UP Police SI Recruitment consists of a written exam, Document verification & physical standard test and typing & shorthand test. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be qualified to appear for the written examination. 

Written Examination

The first stage of the UP Police Sub-Inspector selection process is a written test. It is a multiple-choice question paper and is common for all posts. The exam duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes and includes four subjects.

Document Verification & Physical Standard Test

Candidates shortlisted based on the written examination must first appear for the Physical standards and measurement process. The candidates' documents will be verified once they have passed the Physical standards and measurement stage. Candidates must pass the document verification stage to be considered for Stage III. 

The candidates must present all required documents as specified by the Uttar Pradesh Police Board in the official notification. Make sure to bring all originals to the process. Furthermore, any fake documents or forged signatures discovered at any point may result in the candidate's disqualification. 

Typing & Shorthand Test

Candidates shortlisted based on DV&PST will be eligible to appear for the qualifying Typing (English and Hindi) test according to the post they have applied for. Those candidates who have applied for the ASI (Account) post will be required to appear in the Hindi typing test only. On the other hand, those candidates who have applied for the post of Sub Inspector (Confidential) will have to appear in the shorthand (qualifying) and typing tests. 

UP Police SI Exam Pattern 2023

Before applying for the UP Police SI vacancy 2023, all candidates must know the exam pattern and syllabus. The UP Police SI written exam will be a computer-based (online written examination) test. The questions will be drawn from the four subjects that aspirants should be familiar with to prepare well.

UP SI Admit Card 2023

The UPPRPB release admit card for the SI and ASI exam one week before the exam date. The UP Police SI Admit Card is a mandatory document for candidates to appear in the examination. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centre unless they have an admit card.  

Admit card is mandatory to appear for the examination and candidates should follow these steps to obtain them: 

  • Visit the UPPRPB's official website from the link given above. 
  • On the homepage, look for the "Recruitment" or "Admit Card" section.
  • Click on the “Download UP Police SI & ASI Admit Card 2023” link given there.
  • Enter your registration number, date of birth and any other required information.
