Before applying for the Sub Inspector and ASI positions, candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility requirements set by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB). The eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit, physical standards and educational qualification.

A candidate for recruitment must:-
(a) be a citizen of India, or
(b) a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 to permanently settle in India,
or
(c) a person of Indian origin who has moved to India from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, or any East African country of Kenya, Uganda, or the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar) intending to settle permanently.
The minimum age for the UPSI post is 21 years and the maximum is 28 years (candidates must not be born before 01 July 1995 and not after 01 July 2022). This is the age limit for the candidates belonging to the general category.
On the other hand, candidates from the reserved category will be provided following relaxation in the upper age limit under government rules.

The candidate's character should be such that he/she is suitable for employment in government service in every way. In this regard, the decision of the appointing authority will be final.
A male/female candidate who has more than one wife/husband living is ineligible for appointment to a position in the Service, as is a female candidate who has married a man who already has one wife living.
Note: However, the Government may exempt any person from applying this rule if it determines that a special reason exists.
No candidate shall be appointed to the service unless he is in good mental and bodily health and is free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his duties.

Before a candidate is finally considered for the next stage of the examination, he/she must pass the Medical examination conducted by the Medical Board of Uttar Pradesh Police.
Note: Candidates will be tested for deficiencies such as knock knees, bow legs, flat feet, varicose veins, far and near vision, colour blindness (partial & total), hearing etc.

Here is a step-by-step guide to apply for the UP SI 2023 Recruitment:
Step 1: Navigate to the official website of the UPPRPB by clicking on the link above.
Step 2: On the homepage, you will get a link to “apply online for UP Police Sub Inspector 2023 Recruitment” under the Top Notice segment.
Step 3: You will be redirected to a new page where you must register yourself first.
Step 4: After registration, log in with your registration ID and Password to fill out the application form with all the required information.
Step 5: Upload all required documents as specified in the application guidelines. Check that these documents meet the requirements for successful submission.
Step 6: Pay the application fee corresponding to your category and submit the application form.
Step 7: After submitting the application form, print a copy of the final submission for your records.
To complete the online application process, candidates belonging to all categories must pay the application fee of Rs. 400/- through the Board's website. Candidates can pay the online fees through debit card/credit card/Internet banking/UPI.
The selection process for UP Police SI Recruitment consists of a written exam, Document verification & physical standard test and typing & shorthand test. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be qualified to appear for the written examination.
The first stage of the UP Police Sub-Inspector selection process is a written test. It is a multiple-choice question paper and is common for all posts. The exam duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes and includes four subjects.
Candidates shortlisted based on the written examination must first appear for the Physical standards and measurement process. The candidates' documents will be verified once they have passed the Physical standards and measurement stage. Candidates must pass the document verification stage to be considered for Stage III.
The candidates must present all required documents as specified by the Uttar Pradesh Police Board in the official notification. Make sure to bring all originals to the process. Furthermore, any fake documents or forged signatures discovered at any point may result in the candidate's disqualification.
Candidates shortlisted based on DV&PST will be eligible to appear for the qualifying Typing (English and Hindi) test according to the post they have applied for. Those candidates who have applied for the ASI (Account) post will be required to appear in the Hindi typing test only. On the other hand, those candidates who have applied for the post of Sub Inspector (Confidential) will have to appear in the shorthand (qualifying) and typing tests.
