The Railway Recruitment Board issued a notification for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs) and Technicians 2024 on their official website. A total of 5696 vacancies of Assistant Loco Pilots are going to be filled by this recruitment drive by RRB. Aspirants seeking positions as Assistant Loco Pilots in Indian Railways take the RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Exam, also known as the RRB ALP exam.

RRB ALP Recruitment 2024 - Overview 

The RRB ALP exam is conducted to select qualified candidates for all 21 Regional Railway Recruitment Boards. The exam is conducted in English, Hindi more than 13 Indian languages, including Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati, Odia, Punjabi, Malayalam, Assamese, Tamil, Marathi, Manipuri, Telugu, Konkani, and Urdu.

RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria 2024

RRB has established specific eligibility criteria for the RRB ALP exam. Candidates are advised to check the complete details about the eligibility criteria, such as age limits, educational qualifications, and other requirements before applying to the exam:

Nationality

The Candidate who is willing to apply for the RRB ALP post must be a Citizen of India. Candidates fulfilling the below-mentioned nationality criteria are also eligible to apply:

  • A subject of Nepal,
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, to permanently settle in India,
  • A person of Indian origin who has permanently settled in India after migrating from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam.

Age Limit (as on 01-07-2024)

The minimum and maximum age limits for RRB ALP is 18 and 30 years, respectively. Under government regulations, the following upper-age relaxation for candidates belonging to different categories is permitted.

Physical and Medical Standards

Candidates selected for document review must pass a medical aptitude test administered by the railway administration to ensure that they are medically fit to perform their assigned duties. Candidates will be required to have the below-mentioned standards:

Apply Online for RRB ALP 2024

The RRB ALP Application Process began on January 20th, 2024. Candidates can apply for the RRB ALP exam online at the RRB website. To avoid last-minute hassles, fill out the RRB ALP Application Form well in advance of the deadline. Candidates can make any necessary corrections between 20 and 29 February 2024.

To apply for the RRB ALP Recruitment 2024 easily, follow the steps outlined below.

Step 1: Visit the respective RRBs website from the links given in the table above.

Step 2: Follow the link given on the homepage to apply for the RRB ALP Recruitment.

Step 3: Fill out the required information and complete the registration process.

Step 4: Fill out the RRB ALP application form carefully.

Step 5: Upload all required documents, a photograph, and a signature in the format requested. 

Step 6: Pay the application fee online according to your category.

Step 7: Submit the application form and take a printout of final submission for future reference.

Application Fees and Payment Mode

To complete the RRB ALP application process, candidates must pay the application fee as per their category specified in the table below:

Note: The fees for all category candidates shall be refunded after deducting bank charges as applicable upon appearing in First Stage CBT.

The application fees can be paid ONLINE through internet banking, debit/credit card or UPI. There will be no other option to pay the fee through any other mode.

RRB ALP SELECTION PROCESS

Candidates seeking appointment as RRB ALPs must be aware of the Selection Process and plan their preparation accordingly. The RRB ALP selection process consists of the following five stages:

  • CBT Stage 1: The RRB ALP CBT I will be an objective-type test with only qualifying questions. The examination will consist of 75 questions, totalling 75 marks.
  • CBT Stage 2: Candidates who pass the CBT I will be shortlisted for the RRB ALP CBT II exam. The Second Stage of CBT will be divided into two sections: Part A and Part B. Part B will only serve as a qualifying exam, whereas Part A marks will determine whether or not candidates advance to the next selection round.
  • Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): To qualify, candidates must score at least 42 on each of the test batteries. The ALP merit list will be drawn only from among the candidates qualifying for the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in Part A of the Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in the Computer-Based Aptitude Test.
  • Document Verification (DV): For the ALP position, candidates are shortlisted for Document Verification based on Part A of CBT 2, provided they pass Part B and CBAT. Candidates must bring the original documents requested by RRBs on the day of document verification. If a candidate fails to submit original documents or if a document is discovered to be fake, his or her candidature is cancelled.
  • Medical Examination

RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2024

Candidates who are looking to take the RRB ALP examination must be familiar with the RRB ALP Exam Pattern, which has been released by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), in order to understand details such as the marking scheme, sectional weightage, question types, etc. All of these details and stage-wise exam patterns have been explained below.

Stage 1 - RRB ALP CBT-1

This is a qualifying stage, meaning the marks secured at this stage will not be considered in the final merit list.

  • The paper will consist of 75 objective-type questions (MCQs).
  • There will be a negative marking of ⅓ mark for each wrong answer in this paper.

Those who secure cut-off marks in the first stage CBT will be allowed to appear in the second stage of CBT

  • As previously mentioned, this stage of the exam is divided into two parts, i.e. A and B.
  • Part A will include 100 questions and the duration will be 90 minutes.
  • Part B will include 75 questions and the duration will be 60 minutes.
  • There will be a negative marking of ⅓ mark for each wrong answer in this paper.

Stage 3 - RRB ALP CBAT

  • Question papers for this exam will be made available in English and Hindi only.
  • There are five test battery, candidates need to score certain marks in each test battery to qualify in each test battery separately.
  • This stage will be evaluated for a total of 42 marks.
  • There shall be no negative marking in this stage.

ALP Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

RRB ALP Admit Card 2024

RRB ALP Admit Card 2024 will be available online at the respective regional RRB websites for each stage of the examination. RRBs typically release admit cards for each stage of the examination four to five days before the scheduled exam date. Candidates must enter their user ID and password to download the RRB ALP admit card.

The RRB ALP Admit Card 2024 can be downloaded from the official regional website by following the steps listed below:

Step 1: Visit the official website and search for RRB ALP Admit Cards 2024.

Step 2: Enter your application ID or username, as well as your password.

Step 3: Once you've submitted your credentials, you'll be able to download your admit card.

Step 4: Save and print the RRB ALP Admit Card 2024.

Step 5: Print the admit card and make extra copies in case one is lost.

RRB ALP Answer Key 2024

The RRB ALP answer key is officially released a few days (within a month) after the exam. The answer key is made available alongside the candidate response sheet (objection) and question papers (series-wise). The answer key allows candidates to compare their marked answers. 

Candidates can also submit objections to the answer key via the objection-raising window. 

Candidates can download the answer key after it is released from the official website by following the steps below: 

Step 1: Go to the official website and click on the answer key link for the respective stage examination.

Step 2: After clicking the link a new login window will appear requiring candidates to enter their login information.

Step 3: Enter your registration number and date of birth, then click Submit.

Step 4: Your answer key (response sheet) will be displayed on the screen.

Step 5: Download the answer key PDF and keep it for future use.

RRB ALP Result 2024

The Railway Recruitment Board usually releases the RRB ALP Result separately on each regional website once the examination is completed. Each stage of the selection process will have its own set of results. 

Here are the steps to check the RRB ALP Result 2024.

Step 1: Visit the official site of the regional RRB from where you have applied.

Step 2: Click on the RRB ALP Result 2024 link available on the home page.

Step 3: A new PDF file will appear on the screen.

Step 4: Use the Ctrl+F key to search your name or roll number in the ALP Result PDF.

Step 5: Download the PDF and keep a hard copy of the same for further need.

RRB ALP Cut-off Marks 2024

The RRB shortlists qualified candidates for the next stage of the selection process (examination) by releasing the RRB Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) Cutoff Marks. Those who score above or above the minimum qualifying marks will be assigned names and roll numbers. 

The cutoff marks will be announced shortly after the results are released. Numerous factors influence the cutoff marks for all categories. RRB ALP Salary 2024

Those selected for the Assistant Loco Pilot positions will receive a monthly salary based on the 7th Pay Commission. The initial salary will be Rs 19,900. Additionally, candidates will be eligible for allowances and job stability.
