Application Process of Indian Coast Guard Navik 2023

The Indian Coast Guard has begun accepting online applications for the Navik (DB, GD) from 8 September 2023. For the online application, candidates must go to the ICG's official website. All eligible applicants who want to serve in the Indian Coast Guard can apply online using the direct link provided above. The following are the steps to fill out and submit the application form:

Step 1: Go to the Indian Coast Guard's official website and click on the application link.

Step 2: Find the advertising for the CGEPT 01/2024 Batch.

Step 3: Click “I Agree” after selecting the position you want to apply for (General Duty/Domestic Branch).

Step 4: Go to “Online Application” and fill out the necessary information.

Step 5: Double-check your completed information before submitting the application from. Take a printout of the application form after successful submission.

ICG Navik Application Fee:

Indian Coast Guard Navik Selection Process 2023

The selection process for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Navik Recruitment 2023 includes the following stages:

Stage-I

Written Test: The written examination will be of the objective type with multiple choice based questions. Candidates who pass the written exam will be invited to take the physical fitness test (PFT). Before the written examination, there will be a document scrutiny process; candidates failing to submit the required documents will not be allowed to sit for the written examination.

Candidates who applied for the Navik (GD) position must attempt two sections of the paper - Section 1 and Section 2, and for the DB Position, only Section 1 of the paper is required to be attempted. 

Stage-II

  • Assessment/Adaptability Test: Under the Assessment test, candidates will be evaluated using an OMR-based test, the result of which will be announced after one hour. The qualified candidates will proceed to the next stage, i.e. Physical Fitness Test.
  • Physical Fitness Test: PFT will consist of a race, squats, and push-ups.
  • Document Verification: All the documents provided by the candidates during the application will be checked. 
  • Initial Medicals Examination: At this step, a Provisional Medical Exam will be performed to determine whether the candidate is qualified for the post. Candidates who have been pronounced permanently or temporarily unfit have the right to challenge the results of the initial medical examination. Following completion of the first medicals, the appeal medical must be performed "within 21 days if permanently unfit" or “within 42 days if temporarily unfit.”

Stage-III

All documentation provided by the candidate will be rechecked, and a final medical test to confirm fitness will be conducted at INS Chilka.

Stage-IV

All original documents of finally shortlisted candidates will be verified for the last time.

Indian Coast Guard Navik 2023 - Exam Pattern

Stage-I is computer-based and divided into two sections, namely Section I and II. Section 1 of the ICG Navik Exam Pattern is common for both positions, i.e. General Duty and Domestic Branch. Candidates must pass the following sections, depending on the position for which they have applied.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

All candidates who pass the written test will be shortlisted for the PFT. All three PFT tests must be performed in sequence, with no breaks. Any deviation from the three tests will result in failure of the PFT. The following are the parameters for the Physical Fitness Test:

  • Running 1.6 kilometres in 7 minutes
  • Twenty squats (Uthak Baithak)
  • Ten push-ups

Medical Examination

Candidates who pass the written and physical fitness tests will be declared qualified for the medical examination. The following medical conditions must be met by candidates applying for the Indian Coast Guard Navik position:

The basic pay for an Indian Coast Guard Navik will be Rs. 21700/- (under Pay Level-3). In addition to their salaries, Navik in ICG will be eligible for Dearness Allowance and other allowances based on the nature of their duties/place of assignment, as per the prevailing regulations.
