During the registration process, the candidate must also upload their recent photograph. Additionally, a live image of the candidate will be captured during the registration process. The facial features of the candidate in the uploaded photo will be matched to the real-time photo. Only if the photo matches, the candidate will be able to submit his application.

The selection of a candidate under the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Recruitment 2024 for Navik GD post is based on an all India order of merit based on their performance in Stage-I, II, III & IV and fulfilling the required medical standards during medical examination and the number of vacancies available for the post. The written examination will be conducted online and will be objective in nature, with multiple-choice questions. Candidates who pass the written exam will be eligible for the physical fitness test (PFT). Before the written examination, there will be a document verification process; candidates who fail to submit the required documents will be denied the opportunity to take the written examination.
The online written exam is divided into two sections. Section one will be worth 60 marks, while section two will be worth 50 marks.
Stage-II involves the Assessment/Adaptability Test which is only qualifying in nature i.e. either ‘Provisionally Pass’ or ‘Fail’.
At this point, all of the candidate's documentation will be reviewed again. Any mismatch/inconsistency/error with the information provided by the candidate in the application form, uploaded documents, and original documents produced for verification at Stage-II that relates to the candidate's eligibility, identity, or authenticity of documents will result in document verification failure and the candidature will be canceled. A final medical test to confirm fitness will be performed at INS Chilka.
All original documents of finally shortlisted candidates will be verified for the last time.
The Indian Coast Guard Navik (General Duty) computer-based written exam will consist of objective-type questions. Candidates taking the Navik GD examination can download their admit cards one week before the exam from the official website. The cut-off marks for the Indian Coast Guard Navik are released soon after each part of the examination is successfully completed. The basic pay for personnel enrolled in the Indian Coast Guard as Navik (GD) will be Rs. 21700/- (Pay Level 3). In addition to their salaries, Navik at ICG will be eligible for Dearness Allowance and other allowances based on the nature of their duties/place of assignment, as per applicable regulations.
The basic training for Navik (General Duty) will take place at INS Chilka, followed by sea training and professional training (6 months to 2 years) in the assigned trade. Branch/trade assignments will be made based on the cadet's performance and service requirements during basic training. The Navik (General Duty) cadet at ICG will undergo a 16-week training period.
