Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Phase1 of India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), called ‘Yashobhoomi’, at Dwarka, New Delhi, on 17 September.

The Prime Minister’s vision of having a world class infrastructure for hosting meetings, conferences and exhibitions in the country will be strengthened with the operationalization of ‘Yashobhoomi’ at Dwarka.

About Yashobhoomi

Yashobhoomi convention center boasts of having one of the world's largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities and the largest LED media facade in the country.

  • ‘Yashobhoomi’ also demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability as it is equipped with a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system with 100% wastewater reuse, provisions of rainwater harvesting, and its campus has received Platinum certification from CII’s Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

Indian Green Building Council (IGBC)

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001.

The vision of the council is, “To enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025”.

  • The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of India, partnering Industry, Government and civil society, through advisory and consultative processes.

The council offers a wide array of services which include developing new green building rating programmes, certification services and green building training programmes. The council also organises Green Building Congress, its annual flagship event on green buildings.

The council is committee-based, member-driven and consensus-focused.

The council also closely works with several State Governments, Central Government, World Green Building Council, bilateral multilateral agencies in promoting green building concepts in the country.

  • Yashobhoomi offers one of the largest exhibition halls in the world, which could be utilised for hosting exhibitions, trade fairs, and business events.
  • Yashobhoomi is the second convention centre with world class infrastructure for exhibitions and conferences, after the Bharat Mandapam, which played host to the world leaders at the recently concluded G20 Summit.

About Bharat Mandapam

Bharat Mandapam derives its root from Lord Basaveshwara’s idea of Anubhav Mandapam, which was a pavilion for public ceremonies. This complex is available for all people and has all the facilities to help the country achieve the goal of making it a developed and modern nation.

  • Bharat Mandapam serves as a platform to exhibit India’s vibrant and diverse culture to global leaders and delegates, earning it the nickname, the cultural ‘corridor’.
  • The Mandapam’s architectural design draws inspiration from the graceful ‘Shankha’ or conch shell. Its walls and facades beautifully incorporate various elements of India’s traditional art and culture, providing a captivating visual experience.
  • A prominent feature of this remarkable venue is the towering 29-foot-tall bronze statue of Nataraja. This masterpiece was crafted from Ashtadhatu and weighs approximately 18 tons. Renowned sculptor Radhakrishnan Sthapaty and his team skillfully created it in just seven months. They hail from Swami Malai in Tamil Nadu.
