Chandrashekhar's Global Diplomacy: 4th meeting of G20 DEWG Summit and Conference 3 min read

Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Electronics & IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar held bilateral meetings with ministerial delegations from Bangladesh, South Korea, France and Turkey and other senior representatives at the 4th meeting of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG).

The fourth meeting of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) was organised from 16 to 19 August 2023 in Bengaluru.

  • Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar held talks with Bangladesh's Minister of State for ICT Junaid Ahmad Palak. The talks focused on possible collaboration around India Stack, cyber security and skilling.

  • Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar also held a bilateral meeting with Henri Verdier, Ambassador of the French Ministry of Digital Affairs. The conversation focused on how technologies like AI are changing the lives of citizens.

  • During his meeting with Mehmet Fatih Kasir, Turkey's Minister of Industry and Technology; Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, the future of technology cannot be shaped by a few countries and companies and it needs to be more inclusive.

  • The Minister held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Jin-Bae Hong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea, in which the deepening ties between India and South Korea in the wide-ranging technology sector, especially electronics, were discussed.

  • During the deliberations in the 4th meeting of the DEWG under the G20 India Presidency, various issues related to digital information, service delivery to citizens and development of the digital economy were discussed.

Digital Innovation Alliance Summit:

  • In parallel to these meetings, the Digital Innovation Alliance Summit was also held on 17 and 18 August. It is an effort to recognize and support innovators from various G20 member countries and guest countries.

  • A precise and concise document has been prepared after extensive consultations and consensus on supporting low and medium economies in digital economy, cyber security, digital skills and digital transactions and skills.
