The two-day Technology and Indian Languages Summit organized as a part of the Indian Language Festival concluded in New Delhi from 30 September to 1 October 2023.

  • Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh presided over the concluding session of the summit. Whereas Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan had inaugurated the inaugural session of the summit on 30 September 2023.

Conference Organizer:

  • The summit was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and their other constituent institutions.

Objective of the conference:

  • The summit, held in New Delhi, aims to facilitate a seamless transition from the current education ecosystem to one rooted in Indian languages in line with the vision of NEP-2020.

Three important thematic sessions were included:

  • The summit included three important thematic sessions: - 
    • Technology for Indian Languages; 
    • Technology in Indian Languages; and 
    • Technology  through Indian languages.
  • Several technical sessions were organized under these three themes. Industry experts, academicians and technologists shared their insights and participated in engaging discussions with the audience and answered their questions. These themes emphasized the integration of technology in promoting Indian languages, including its role in teaching, training, examination and translation of educational materials.

Indian Language Day:

  • The Government of India is celebrating the birthday (11 December) of the famous Tamil poet and freedom fighter Mahakavi Chinnaswami Subramaniam Bharati as Indian Languages Day.
  • The Festival of Indian Languages, which began on September 28, 2023, will run for 75 days and end on December 11, 2023.
  • During this period, various programs related to Indian languages will be organized in schools and higher education institutions.
