Team Russia wins the 13th edition of ‘Admiral’s Cup’ Sailing Regatta

The Russian team won the team event of the 13th edition of the Admiral Cup sailing regatta.
The Admiral Cup is an offshore Laser Radial boat race organised by the Indian Navy. It is held in the Arabian Sea near the Ettikulam Beach of Kerala, where the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimal, is situated.
The 13th Admiral Cup was held from 9-13 December off the coast of Ettikulam Beach, Kerala. The first Admiral Cup was organised by the Indian Navy in 2010.
The Admiral Cup is modelled after the famous Admiral Cup organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, England, which is considered the unofficial World Cup for offshore racing.

Admiral Cup of the Indian Navy is an international sailing race which attracts national and international participants. This year, 53 sailors, including 14 females, from 25 countries participated in the race.
There were two teams from India: the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, and the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla.

The Admiral Cup had three events: Team and individual categories for men and women.

Team Award
- The Russian team of Lt Gorkunov Petr Ilyich and Cdt Loshichinina Polina Vladislavovna won the team event.
- Second place- Italian team of Carlo Leonardo and Ensign Camilla Bernabe.
- Third place- SLt Japman Avtar and Cdt PK Reddy of the Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala.
Individual Award winner
Men’s Category
- First- Lt Gorkunov Petr Ilyich of Russia
- Second Place- Lt Darius Lee Kheng Wee of Singapore
- Third -and Ensign Pappas Vissarion of Greece.
Female Category
- First-Ensign Camilla Bernabei of Italy
- Second - Cdt Loshichinina Polina Vladislavovna of Russia and
- Third- SLt Isha Shah of India.
