Jyotiraditya Scindia Lays Foundation Stone of India's 7th Postal Training Centre in Madhya Pradesh

Union Minister for Communications and DoNER, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, performed the Bhoomi Pujan for India's 7th Postal Training Centre at Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh on 2nd September, 2026, a move aimed at strengthening skill-building for the Department of Posts' workforce. The initiative supports the government's larger Viksit Bharat vision, with the new facility set to train postal staff from Madhya Pradesh and nearby states in modern technologies and service delivery.
Speaking at the event, Scindia noted that postal staff from Madhya Pradesh previously had to travel nearly 600 km for training, a gap this new centre will close. He linked the initiative to the Guru-Shishya Parampara, describing the centre as a step toward a modern, evolving training ecosystem. With this addition, the Department of Posts' training network grows to seven centres, joining existing ones at Saharanpur, Vadodara, Mysuru, Guwahati, Madurai and Darbhanga, which together train close to 2,000 employees every year.
The event saw participation from several state and postal department representatives, including Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, MLAs Devendra Jain, Mahendra Ramsingh Yadav, and Pritam Singh Lodhi, along with local panchayat and municipal leaders, senior Postal Services Board officials, and the Chief Postmaster General of Madhya Pradesh Circle.
Alongside the foundation-laying ceremony, Scindia also inaugurated the upgraded Shivpuri Head Post Office, redesigned per School of Planning and Architecture guidelines. The revamped office introduces Jan Sewa Connect, a single-window facility offering Speed Post, Savings Bank, Postal Life Insurance, Aadhaar and other citizen services, continuing the department's push for accessible, modern postal infrastructure.
