In a significant boost to the prospect of industrial and economic development in Bihar, an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster is to be established in Gaya along the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor project of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation.
An agreement was signed between the Bihar Government & Bihar Industrial Development Authority and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) on 12 November 2024.
The setting up of the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster at Gaya is expected to boost Bihar’s economy, create employment opportunities, and make the state the hub of manufacturing in Eastern India.
The Integrated Manufacturing Cluster at Gaya is being developed as a node under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor project of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation.
The Integrated Manufacturing Cluster is located near the Gaya International Airport.
It will be spread over 1670 acres of land and will be developed at a cost of Rs 1339 crore.
The Gaya Industrial Manufacturing Cluster will have well-developed multimodal infrastructure (roads, airports, rail) and plug-and-play facilities for businessmen, such as solid waste management, a common effluent treatment plant, a sewage treatment plant, and stormwater drainage.
The government expects to attract Rs 16,524 crore worth of investment from readymade garments, leather goods, building materials, medical equipment, agri-food processing, furniture, handloom and handicrafts and the engineering and fabrications sectors in the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster.
Inspired by the success of various successful industrial corridor projects worldwide, the government of India launched the Industrial Corridor project in India. The first project to be approved was the Japanese-assisted Delhi-Mumbai Corridor in 2007.
The Industrial Corridor will connect the country's key economic hub through a multimodal transport system.

Industrial Nodes.
The industrial nodes are specific areas along an industrial corridor where the infrastructure needed for industrial manufacturing is developed.
They operate on a plug-and-play model, meaning a company can come to this area and start production in the minimum possible time, as all the infrastructure needed for manufacturing is already there.
The government is also developing smart cities along the corridor so that the workers working in these nodes can live in a world-class, environmentally sustainable environment.
