The Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) has successfully launched the “Samudra Prachet” Pollution Control Vessels (PCV), built for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), at its shipyard in Vasco, Goa, on 23 July 2025.
The launching of the ship means that the ship ‘Samudra Prachet’ has been transferred from land, where it was being constructed by GSL, into the water for further fitting and trial.
Keeping the maritime tradition of the Indian Coast Guard, the ship was formally launched by a woman, Priya Paramesh. She is the wife of the current Indian Coast Guard Director General Paramesh Sivamani, who was also present on the occasion.
The Indian Coast Guard is the first responder in case of marine pollution in high seas due to oil spills.
