Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot formally inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi Rural and Urban Olympic Games-2023 at Sawai Man Singh stadium, Jaipur, on 5 August 2023. Organizing Rajiv Gandhi Rural and Urban Olympic Games-2023 will set a new record in the direction of promoting sports. These games will now be organized every year.
The talents coming from these games will win medals in international events such as Olympics, Commonwealth and Asian games in the coming years.
Highlights of events:
- Ashok Gehlot felicitated boxer Ms Khushi Punia, wrestler Ms Ashwini Vishnoi, kabbadi player Shri Jai Bhagwan, athlete Shri Neeraj Baloda, shooting ball players Ms Muskan Kathed and Ms Shireen Khan for their sports achievements.
- The Chief Minister after the renovation of the stadium dedicated to the public an 8-lane international swimming pool.
- An exhibitive game of women's kabaddi was played in the inaugural function.
- Games in Rural areas - Kabaddi, Shooting Ball, Tennis Ball Cricket, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Football and Tug of War
- Games in Urban areas – Kabaddi, Tennis Ball Cricket, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Athletics, Football and Basketball
- Details of players – Rural – 26.46 lakh men and 19.67 lakh women
- Urban – 7.59 lakh men and 4.79 lakh women
- Total – approx. 58.51 lakh
