Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on 12th August, 2023 will unveil Sant Shiromani Gurudev Shri Ravidas ji Memorial Sthal in Sagar district.
Sant Shiromani Gurudev Shri Ravidas ji Memorial will be constructed in an area of more than 11.25 acres and at a cost of more than Rs. 100 crores. The magnificent memorial will have an impressive art museum and gallery to showcase the life, philosophy and teachings of Sant Shiromani Gurudev Shri Ravidas ji. It will also have facilities for devotees visiting the memorial like Bhakt Niwas, Bhojanalay etc.
About Saint Shiromani Kavi Ravidas
- Saint Shiromani Kavi Ravidas was born on Magha Purnima in 1376 AD in Gobardhanpur village of Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh. His mother's name was Karma Devi (Kalsa) and father's name was Santokh Das (Raghu). His grandfather's name is Shri Kaluram ji, grandmother's name is Mrs. Lakhpati ji, wife's name is Mrs. Lonaji and son's ji, wife's name is Shri Vijay Das ji. Being from Ravidasji Charmkar clan, he used to make shoes. He used to take great pleasure in doing this and used to do his work with full dedication and hard work.
- He removed caste discrimination in the society, emphasized on social unity and laid the foundation of humanist values.
- Saint Ravidas has used Braj Bhasha of common people for his poems. Along with this, there is also a mixture of words from Awadhi, Rajasthani, Khari Boli and Rekhta i.e. Urdu-Persian. About forty verses of Ravidasji have also been included in 'Guru Granth Sahib', the holy scripture of Sikhism.
