Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the closing session of the Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development on October 9, 2026. The session is scheduled for around 4:30 PM at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, where he will also speak to the gathering.
The summit is a two-day event held on October 8-9, 2026. Political leaders and officials who handle women and child development from all States are taking part. It is the second summit in a series planned by the Prime Minister. The series aims to strengthen cooperative federalism, build shared responsibility for national goals, and speed up results through closer work between the Centre and the States.
The summit is built around cooperative federalism. This means the Union and State governments work together as partners instead of working separately. Summit to Focus on Key Themes of Nutrition, Early Education, Child Protection, Womenโs Safety and Empowerment
The discussions are organised around four main themes.
The first theme looks at how Anganwadi Centres can be improved to give children better nutrition and early education.
The second theme is about making the child protection system stronger so that children who are at risk get proper care and safety.
The third theme focuses on womenโs safety. It stresses effective implementation of existing institutions and laws so that they work well on the ground.
The fourth theme is about making the main schemes for women more effective and improving their outcomes.
Under this model, Union and State stakeholders sit together to discuss sector priorities and share good practices. They also look at problems faced in implementation and agree on time-bound actions. The goal is better governance and improved delivery of services to people.
