NSG Launches First Mahila Commando Conversion Course to Train Women

The National Security Guard (NSG) Training Academy in Manesar has launched its first-ever Mahila Commando Conversion Course (MCCC), a specialised programme designed to train women personnel from State Police Forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in counter-terrorism operations. This marks a notable step toward expanding women's presence in a field that has traditionally been dominated by male commandos.

The 12-week programme began on August 24 and is aimed at turning selected women personnel into physically strong, technically skilled, and operationally ready commandos capable of handling demanding roles in counter-terrorism and internal security. Rather than focusing only on increasing representation, the course is designed to genuinely build the operational capability needed for high-risk missions.

NSG's First-Ever Female Commando Training Components

Trainees will go through rigorous physical conditioning, advanced weapons training and marksmanship, tactical intervention drills, hostage rescue techniques, and other specialised counter-terrorism skills during the course.

The Femal Commando Conversion Course: A 12-Week Residential Programme

1. The Mahila Commando Conversion Course is a 12-week intensive residential training programme, structured to build advanced operational skills in female personnel drawn from police and paramilitary formations. 
2. The course began on August 24, 2026, at the NSG Training Academy in Manesar, with the first batch comprising 25 women constables from the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary's 5th Battalion at Ghatgate. 
3. The training syllabus covers physical conditioning, weapons proficiency, marksmanship, tactical intervention, and hostage rescue drills, giving participants exposure to the full range of skills needed for counter-terrorism roles. 
4. The programme carries the theme and hashtag "She Who Dares, Leads," reflecting its focus on building genuine operational leadership among women in India's security forces.

Building a Shared Talent Pool Across Forces

By training women from different state and central forces under one shared programme, the NSG aims to build a wider pool of trained professionals across the country. This is also expected to promote common operational standards and improve coordination between central and state security agencies during complex missions, since counter-terrorism operations often require multiple agencies to work together effectively.

Impact on Participating Forces

Once the course is completed, trained personnel will return to their respective parent forces, carrying enhanced skills and specialised knowledge that can be applied to a wider range of security responsibilities within their own organisations. This is expected to reduce dependence on a limited pool of specialised commandos and expand the availability of trained women professionals for demanding operational roles across India's security setup.
