Every year August 19 is observed as World Photography Day. It is observed as a mark of respect to the photographers who have contributed in the field of photography.
Two Frenchmen, Joseph Nicephore Niepce and Louis Daguerre, developed the first ever photographic process in 1837 called the daguerreotype.
On August 19, 1839, the then French government bought the invention's patent and gave it as a gift to the world.
This step of the French government played an important role in making photography popular amongst the public.Therefore, this day came to be observed as World Photography Day later on.
The theme of the World Photography Day 2023 is : “LANDSCAPES".
