The fourth 'Nadi Utsav' is being organized by the National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM) of IGNCA and the Janapada Sampada Division starting from September 22nd to September 24th, 2023.
This year's 'Nadi Utsav' will be hosted in Delhi, situated on the banks of River Yamuna.
'Nadi Utsav' is an attempt to document riverine culture, tradition, rituals and water wisdom.
This event is an initiative to remember the connection with rivers.
Previous Nadi Utsav: The 'Nadi Utsav' commenced in 2018 held in Nashik (Maharashtra) city on River Godavari's banks. The second' Nadi Utsav' took place in Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) city on the banks of river Krishna, and the third in Munger (Bihar) city on the banks of river Ganga.
National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM) is a scheme administered by the Ministry of Culture.
Aim: To address the necessity of preserving the threads of rich Indian Art and Cultural Heritage, converting the vast and widespread cultural canvas of India into an objective Cultural Mapping while creating a strong "Cultural Vibrancy" throughout the nation.
Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA)The IGNCA was launched on November 19th, 1985, by the late Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Five rocks from five major rivers – Sindhu, Ganga, Kaveri, Mahanadi and the Narmada (where the most ancient ammonite fossils are found) were composed into sculptural forms. These will remain at the site as reminders of the antiquity of Indian culture and the sacredness of her rivers and rocks. The lotus bloomed in a simulated pool, the first of the principles of vegetation. Shri Rajiv Gandhi floated lighted lamps on the water. |
