Samsung & UN GCNI launch DigiArivu to enhance STEM learning in Tamil Nadu

Samsung, in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI), has launched the ‘DigiArivu’ initiative in Tamil Nadu. The purpose of this initiative is to strengthen digital and STEM education in selected government schools.

• Samsung, in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI), has launched an initiative named ‘DigiArivu – Empowering Students Through Tech’ to strengthen digital and STEM education in selected government schools of Tamil Nadu.

Objective of DigiArivu

• Through this initiative, Samsung will upgrade school infrastructure in 10 government schools in the Kanchipuram and Ranipet districts of Tamil Nadu, enable STEM and digital learning, train teachers, and help in the overall development of students — benefiting more than 3,000 students.
• As part of DigiArivu, Samsung will use a multi-layered, community-centric model to transform the learning ecosystem in tier-2 and tier-3 districts.
• This program has been designed based on UN GCNI’s research with state government schools, inputs from Samsung employees at the Sriperumbudur manufacturing plant, and community members of the area, so that the interventions meet actual ground needs.
• The main focus areas include upgrading the existing learning ecosystem in schools through the Building as Learning Aid (BaLA) design and then providing equipment to promote digital learning among schoolchildren.
• It will give career guidance to Class 12 students, provide an education expert speaker series, and organize health awareness camps for schoolchildren. The program also includes celebrating important days and events in schools with community members.

Samsung Innovation Campus

• Apart from DigiArivu, Samsung is strengthening youth skilling in Tamil Nadu through the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) program. Under SIC, this year Samsung is training 5,000 students in Tamil Nadu in high-demand future-tech domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Big Data, and coding and programming.
