AIIA Launches 'AyurVarta' Digital Dialogue Series Ahead of Ayurveda Day

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Ayush, has launched a new digital dialogue series called 'AyurVarta', aimed at spreading authentic knowledge and scientific perspectives on Ayurveda to audiences both in India and abroad. The series has been introduced ahead of Ayurveda Day, observed annually on September 23.

AyurVarta First Episode Highlights Significance of 23rd September Ayurveda Day

1. The inaugural episode featured a conversation between Professor P.K. Prajapati, Director of AIIA, and Professor Mahesh Vyas, Dean, Ph.D. at AIIA, exploring ‘Why Ayurveda Day is celebrated on September 23’. The discussion traced how the observance was earlier linked to Dhanvantari Jayanti before the government fixed September 23 as the permanent date for annual celebrations. 
2. Professor Prajapati noted that this fixed date gives the occasion greater consistency and helps build a stronger national and international identity for Ayurveda over time. 
3. Professor Vyas added an interesting scientific angle, explaining that September 23 falls close to the Autumnal Equinox, a time when day and night are nearly equal in duration. 
4. He connected this natural balance to a core principle of Ayurveda, which emphasises harmony and equilibrium as essential to good health.
