India and Saudi Arabia Sign MoU to Boost Cooperation in Water Resources

On 29th June, 2026, India and Saudi Arabia took yet another step in their expanding partnership, signing a memorandum of understanding on water resources during Saudi Water Week in Jeddah. The event is one of the bigger global gatherings focused on sustainable water management and new ideas in the space.

What did the MoU between Saudi Arabia and India contain?

The aim of the agreement is to get both countries to work more closely on water planning and sustainable management. 

1. That includes irrigation systems, building up capacity on both sides, and trading technical know-how and best practices between institutions.
2. The pact also covers efficient water use and long-term water security — clearly something both nations are taking seriously given the challenges ahead. 
3. There's an emphasis on institutions learning from each other and pushing joint efforts around conservation.
4. It complements the India-Saudi relationship that already touches energy, trade, investment, tech, agriculture, and environmental work.

Key People Involved in Signing the MoU

The MoU was signed by Dr. Suhel Khan, India's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture. Fahad Suri, Consul General of India in Jeddah, was also present at the signing ceremony.
