India and Saint Kitts and Nevis have signed an agreement with India STACK, which will enable cooperation in digitalisation in Saint Kitts and Nevis. This agreement was signed during the visit of the foreign minister of the Federation of Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas, to India.
Dr Denzil Douglas, who was on an official visit to India from 4-9 August 2024, is the first foreign minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis to visit India.
India Stack is a set of digital infrastructure components that enable various entities, including governments, businesses, and individuals, to interact and conduct transactions electronically.
India Stack refers to a collection of different technology products and frameworks. It includes Aadhaar products such as e-auth, e-KYC, Digilocker UPI, etc.
During his visit to India, Dr Denzil Douglas met Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar. He discussed a wide range of issues, including cooperation in defence and security, agriculture and food security, sharing of digital public infrastructures, health and pharma, personnel training, renewable energy, and development cooperation.
He also met Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry,
Saint Kitts and Nevis is an island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It consists of two islands in the Lesser Antilles.
It is a very small country with an area of 269 square km.
Christopher Columbus, who discovered the Americas, visited Saint Kitts on his second voyage to the region in 1943 and named it Saint Christopher. The name was later shortened to Saint Kitts.
It was ruled by the British and formally became Independent on September 19, 1983.
It is part of the Commonwealth, and the United Kingdom Monarch is its Head of State.
Saint Kitts and Nevis is part of the West Indies cricket team.
St Kitts and Nevis is also part of the Caribbean Community or CARICOM, which consists of 15 Member States and 5 Associate Members.
The economy of St Kitts and Nevis is dependent on tourism, and it has a small South Asian population.
