The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India organised National SC-ST Hub (NSSH) Conclave at Gumla (Jharkhand) on 18 August 2023 to promote entrepreneurship culture and spread awareness about the Ministry's National SC-ST Hub scheme and other schemes.
Addressing the conference, Union Minister of State for MSME Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma discussed the important role of the MSME sector in the Indian economy in terms of contribution to GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and overall exports from India.
The Union Minister said that MSME not only provides vast employment opportunities, but also helps in industrialization of rural and backward areas.
He also said that the MSME sector of Jharkhand is endowed with a variety of natural resources. Also it is one of the most attractive areas for setting up mineral based units.
The State provides ample opportunities for the development of forest and mineral based industries and the Ministry is taking several measures to provide necessary support to these units to flourish.
A special technical session was also organised with CPSEs, Banks and Lending Institutions, which provided an excellent platform for aspiring and existing SC-ST entrepreneurs to interact.
CPSEs like ONGC, BSNL, Damodar Valley Corporation Limited etc. made presentations on the process of vendor empanelment. Also shared information about products/services that can be purchased from SC-ST owned MSEs.
The event was also attended by financial institutions like SBI, SIDBI, IFCI Venture Capital Fund and NABARD, who explained various loan schemes related to the MSME sector.
The event also discussed about inclusive growth, promotion of entrepreneurship culture among SC-ST communities and their active participation in the public procurement process to reach the 4 per cent target under Public Procurement Policy.
