Raunak Sadhwani and Govhar Beydullayeva emerged as the undisputed champions of their open and girls sections at Italy's FIDE World Junior Rapid Chess Championship.

Raunak Sadhwani, a young player from Maharashtra, India, proved to be a rising star in the Open section of the tournament. 

• Despite a shaky start, he showed his prowess and unyielding determination, securing a remarkable victory with a score of 8.5/11. 
• As the tournament progressed, Raunak gained momentum and entered the final round sharing the top position with three other players. 
• In a crucial match, he defeated Tobias Koelle, who had been leading for most of the event, and clinched the title. 

Performance of Govhar Beydullayeva

Govhar Beydullayeva of Azerbaijan emerged victorious in the girls' section of the World Junior Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship 2023, with an impressive score of 9/11. 

• This isn't her first win in Sardinia, as she previously triumphed in the 2022 World Junior Championship held on this Mediterranean island.

On October 10, 2023, the highly anticipated World Junior Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship commenced at the "Maria Carta" Municipal Theatre in Pula, Sardinia, Italy. 

• The Italian Chess Federation is hosting this prestigious tournament, which brings together some of the brightest young chess talents from around the world, promising to be a battleground of skill, strategy, and intense competition.

• Magnus Carlsen, a Norwegian grandmaster, made history by winning both the World Rapid and World Blitz chess championships in Almaty.
• The title of woman FIDE master (WFM) is one of the official rankings exclusively given by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) to female chess players. It is the third-highest ranking exclusively for women, after the woman grandmaster and woman international master titles.
