Manu Bhaker Opens India’s Medal Account in 2024 Paris Olympics

Manu Bhaker of Haryana opened the medal account for India at the 33rd Summer Olympics, being held in Paris, France. She won the bronze medal in the 10-meter air pistol event held on 28 July 2024.
She became the first Indian women shooter to win a medal in the shooting event at the Summer Olympics.
The 33rd Summer Olympics in Paris is being held from 26 July to 11 August 2024. A strong 117 Indian contingent is taking part in the Paris Olympics, with a maximum of 29 competing in athletics and 21 in shooting.
The Paris Olympics features 32 sporting disciplines and India is participating in 16 disciplines.
The 22-year-old Manu Bhaker, with a score of 221.7 points, finished third in the eight-woman final and settled for a bronze medal.
The gold medal was won by South Korean Oh Ye Jin, with an Olympic record of 243.2 points, and the silver medal was bagged by fellow South Korean Yeji Kim, with 241.3 points.
Manu Bhaker's bronze medal was the fifth-ever medal won by an Indian shooter in the Olympics.
Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won the first shooting medal, a silver medal, in the Men’s double trap at Athens 2004.

China won the first gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Chinese won gold in the
10m air rifle mixed team event. In the final, the Chinese pair of Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao defeated the South Korean pair of Kim Jihyeon and Park Hajun 16-12.
