India wins gold in Squash and Tennis in the Hangzhou Asian Games

Indian men’s Squash team defeated Pakistan to win a gold medal in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on 30th September 2023. Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale won gold in the Tennis Mixed Doubles by defeating Chinese Taipei to secure India’s second medal in tennis after Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni’s silver in Men’s Doubles.

In men’s Hockey, the Indian team defeated Pakistan 10-2 in a pool match.

The 19th Asian Games officially started on 23 September 2023 and will end on 8 October 2023. 

Indian athletes won 5 medals - 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals on day 7 of the Hangzhou Asian Games on 29th September 2023. 

Medal Winners for India on day 7 of the Hangzhou Asian Games 

Gold Medal winners 

• Indian men’s Squash team of Saurav Ghosal, Abhay Singh and Mahesh Mangaonkar defeated arch-rivals Pakistan to win gold .This is India's second squash gold at the Games after the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. 
• Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale won gold in the Mixed Doubles in Tennis defeating Chinese Taipei. It was the second medal for India in the Asian games after Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni’s silver in Men’s Doubles.

Silver Medal winners  

• Sarabjot Singh and Divya Thadigol won silver medal in the Pistol Mixed Team event . They lost to China in the final..
• In the men’s 10000 meter race , Kartik Kumar won a silver medal.

Bronze medal winners 

• In the men’s 10000m meter race ,Gulveer Singh won bronze medal.
