The fifth edition of the India–Malaysia joint exercise “Exercise Harimau Shakti – 2025” has started in Rajasthan. The exercise will be held from 05 to 18 December 2025.
- The fifth edition of the joint military exercise “Exercise Harimau Shakti – 2025” began at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. The exercise will continue from 05 to 18 December 2025.
Previous Edition
- The fourth edition of the India–Malaysia joint military exercise Harimau Shakti began at Bentong Camp in the Pahang district of Malaysia. The exercise was held from 2 to 15 December 2024.
- The Indian contingent is represented mainly by soldiers of the Dogra Regiment. The Malaysian side is represented by soldiers of the 25th Battalion of the Royal Malaysian Army.
- The objective of the exercise is to conduct joint rehearsals of sub-conventional operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate. The scope includes synergizing joint responses during counter-terrorist operations.
- Both sides will practice tactical actions such as cordon, search and destroy missions, heli-borne operations, etc. Additionally, Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting, and yoga will also be part of the exercise curriculum.
- In Exercise Harimau Shakti – 2025, both sides will rehearse drills for securing a helipad and carrying out casualty evacuation during counter-terrorist operations.
India–Malaysia Relations
- In July 2023, following Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit, the 1993 MoU was amended, and the regional office of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited was inaugurated in Kuala Lumpur.
- Other joint exercises: Harimau Shakti (Army), Samudra Laksamana (Navy), and Udara Shakti (Air Force). These exercises strengthen inter-service cooperation and strategic relations.
India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise Garuda Shakti begins in Himachal Pradesh
- The tenth edition of the India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise Garuda Shakti has started at the Special Forces Training School in Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh. The exercise is being held from 03 to 12 December 2025.
- The ninth edition of the India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise, Garuda Shakti 2024, was held from 1 to 12 November 2024 in Cijantung, Jakarta, Indonesia.
- The Indian contingent is represented by soldiers from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), while the Indonesian contingent includes personnel from the Indonesian Special Forces.
- The objective of this exercise is to strengthen mutual understanding, cooperation, and interoperability between the special forces of both countries.
- Its scope includes tactics, techniques, and procedures at the army level in a counter-terrorism environment, including unarmed combat techniques, combat shooting, sniping, heli-borne operations, and planning of drone, counter-UAS, and loiter-munition strikes in semi-mountainous areas.
- Designed to emphasize physical fitness, tactical drills, and high-intensity combat training, this joint training will conclude with a validation exercise simulating real-world operational scenarios to test the endurance, coordination, and combat readiness of both contingents.
