The Indian Army conducted a Table-Top Exercise (TTX) for women officers of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. This table-top exercise was organised by the Indian Army from 4 to 8 December 2023.
This exercise conducted by the Indian Army aims:
- to encourage gender equality and
- to enhance the capabilities of women military personnel in peacekeeping operations.
About Table-Top Exercises:
- Tabletop exercise (TTX) is a type of disaster preparedness activity. In this activity, the participants are trained to deal with a simulated disaster scenario.
- This table-top exercise is part of efforts led by the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) to strengthen international cooperation and capacity building in peacekeeping missions.
- Special focus has been given to empowering women in this area through table-top exercises.
About the Centre For United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK):
- CUNPK is a premier institution of the Indian Army, providing training in peacekeeping operations.
- CUNPK had earlier also organised the ASEAN Women Military Officers Course from 18 to 29 September 2023.
- This exercise (TTX) is a follow-up to the ongoing joint military training between India and ASEAN member states.
- The exercise underlines India's shared commitment towards world peace, stability and gender equality.
- It enables the participants to simulate and strategize responses to peacekeeping scenarios reflecting real-world challenges.
- It also demonstrated complex operational peacekeeping environments and methods to ensure women's peace and security.
- The exercise also includes a heritage tour of Delhi to showcase Indian culture.
The event showcased 'Made in India' equipment being deployed in various UN Missions.
