Odisha Women, Tamil Nadu Men Win 1st Hockey India Masters Cup 2025

Hockey Association of Odisha and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu won the women's and men's titles, respectively, in the inaugural edition of the Hockey India Masters Cup 2025. The inaugural edition of the Hockey India Masters Cup was held at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from June 18 to 27, 2025.

The Master Cup was for male players above 40 years of age, and for women, the age criterion was above 35 years.

Twelve men’s and eight women's teams participated in the Masters Cup 2025.

The men’s team were divided into four pools.

• Pool A- Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, Hockey Andhra Pradesh and Kerala Hockey
• Pool B- Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Hockey Punjab and Le Puducherry Hockey
• Pool C- Hockey Chandigarh, Manipur Hockey, Hockey Maharashtra 
• Pool D- Hockey Haryana and Hockey Karnataka 

The women's team were divided into two pools.

• Pool A- Hockey Karnataka, Hockey Maharashtra, Hockey Himachal and Kerala Hockey
• Pool B-  Hockey Punjab, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Association of Odisha, and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu.

At the Pool stage, each team played against the others, followed by a knockout stage and a final.

Title win for Odisha and Tamil Nadu 

In the final, Hockey Association of Odisha defeated Hockey Punjab 1-0 to win the inaugural edition of the Hockey India Masters (Women) Cup. 

Ranjita Beck of Odisha scored the winning goal of the final match to lift the trophy.

Earlier, the Hockey Association of Odisha's women’s team advanced to the final, defeating the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 4-1 in the first semifinal.

In the second semi-final, Hockey Punjab defeated  Hockey Haryana 3-2 in a closely fought match.

Men’s Title 

In the final, the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu defeated Hockey Maharashtra 5-0 to win the title.

Muthuselvan D, Sudharsan S, Govthaman, Thamaraikannan and Ramadoss V scored for Tamil Nadu in the final.

In the first semi-final of the Men’s Master Cup, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu defeated Hockey Chandigarh 3-0. In the second semi-final, Hockey Maharashtra defeated Hockey Association of Odisha 4-1.

Bronze Medal 

In the women’s category, Hockey Haryana defeated Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 4-3 in a closely fought game to win the bronze medal.

In the men’s category, Hockey Chandigarh defeated Hockey Association of Odisha 2-1 to finish in third place and won the bronze medal. 

Hockey India 

Hockey India is the governing body for hockey in India and is affiliated with the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

It was established in 2009 and replaced the Indian Hockey Federation, which was founded in 1925.
