The Indian athletes concluded their campaign at the 6th Asian U18 Athletics Championship 2025 with 11 medals: one gold, five silver, and five bronze. The 6th Asian U18 Athletics Championship was organised by the Asian Athletics Association at the Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz Sports City, Saudi Arabia, from April 15 to 18, 2025. Athletes below the age of 18 years from 31 Asian countries participated in the event.

In the 5th edition of the Asian U18 Athletics Championships held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 2023, India won 24 medals.

Himanshu wins the Solitary Gold in Javelin 

Hinmanshu won the solitary gold for India in the 6th U18 Asian Championship in the javelin throw event. His opening throw of 67.57 meters was good enough to fetch him gold ahead of China’s Lu Hao. It was the first time India won a gold medal in the boys’ javelin throw event in the Asian U18 Athletics Championship.

First Medal Winner at the Championship 

Nitin Gupta won India's first medal at the 6th Asian U18 Games by securing a silver medal in the boys’ 5000m race walk event. He clocked 20 minutes 21.51 seconds to finish behind China’s Zhu Ninghao, who was just 0.01 seconds faster.

In the girls' section, the first medal was won by Tannu. She won a silver medal in the 400-meter race with a time of 57.63 seconds. Japan’s Imamine Saki won the gold with a time of 57.27 seconds.

Two medals for Nischay and Arti 

  • Nischal in the boy’s section and Aarti in the girl’s section won two medals each at the continental championship. 
  • Nischal won the silver medal in the shot put and a bronze medal in the discus throw.
  • Aarti won a bronze medal in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprint races,

  • Nitin Gupta in boy’s 5000-meter race walk

  • Chiranth P, Sayed Sabeer, Saket Minj and Kadir Khan in boy’s sprint medley relay 1000 meters.

Bronze-5 medals 

  • Nischay - in boy’s discus throw
  • Aarti - in girl’s 100m
  • Aarti -in girl’s 200m
  • Shourya Ambure - in the girl’s 100m hurdles
  • Lakshita Mahlawat - in girl’s discus throw

About the Asian U18 Athletics Championship 

The Asian U18 Athletics Championship is a continental-level event organised by the Asian Athletics Association.

It was first held in 2015 as the Asian Youth Athletics Championship in Qatar.

The championship is held every two years.
