FC Goa defeated Jamshedpur FC 3-0 in the final, winning the 5th edition of the Kalinga Super Cup football tournament 2025. FC Goa has also qualified for the playoff stages of next season's Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League 2. If FC Goa fail to win that playoff game, they will play in the AFC Challenge League.
The Kalinga Super Cup 2025 final was played at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, on 3 May 2025.
The tournament name is Super Cup, but as the Odisha government sponsors it, it has been known as the Kalinga Super Cup since the 2024 edition. It is held at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
FC Goa, also known as Gaurs, became the first team in the Kalinga Super Cup history to win it twice. It won the Kalinga Super Cup in 2019.
FC Goa was playing its second final of the Kalinga Super Cup, while it was the first final for Jamshedpur FC.
It was the fourth time the two teams met in the Super Cup. In the 2018 and 2019 editions, the Gaur defeated Jamshedpur FC in the quarterfinals. Jamshedpur FC, which is also known as Red Miners, defeated FC Goa in the group stage of the 2023 edition.
However, in the Super Cup 2025 finals, Gaurs defeated Red Miners 3-0. Borja Gonzale scored twice, and Dejan Drazic scored the goals for the Gaurs in the final.
It was also Manolo Marquez's last match as the coach of FC Goa. He will take over as the head coach of the senior Indian men’s football team.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) organises the Kalinga Super Cup. Its first edition, which replaced the Federation Cup, took place in 2018.
Sixteen teams participate in the Super Cup, and the winner qualifies for the AFC Champions League 2.
Top teams of the Indian Super League and the I-League are eligible to play the Super Cup.
Sixteen teams were divided into four groups, with the winners of each group qualifying for the semi-finals.
