Indian shooter Arjun Babuta clinched the silver medal at Asian Shooting Championship 2023. Arjun Babuta secured Paris 2024 Olympics quota for India by securing a silver medal.

Asian Shooting Championship 2023 to be held:

  • The Asian Shooting Championships 2023 is being held in Changwon, Republic of Korea from 24 October 2023.
  • Shooters are competing in this championship held in Changwon with the aim of securing a quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Qualifying events for Paris 2024 Olympics:

  • The Asian Shooting Championships 2023 is a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympics
  • In this championship, athletes are submitting their claims for a total of 24 Olympic quota places. The top two athletes (one per country) in each of the 12 Olympic shooting events will be able to secure a spot for their national team.
  • These quota places are divided equally among 12 individual Olympic events in the rifle, pistol and shotgun categories.
  • The Indian team has already secured seven Paris quotas in shooting and will be looking to secure as many quotas as possible out of the 17 in Changwon.

Performance of Indian team:

  • Indian men's skeet won the gold medal at the Asian Shooting Championships 2023 on 25 October 2023, while the 10m air pistol mixed team won the silver medal.
  • The Indian shooting team had won 22 medals, including seven gold, at the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China.

  • Shooter Arjun Babuta of Union Territory Chandigarh had won the bronze medal in the ISSF Junior World Cup 2016 held in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
  • Indian shooter Arjun Babuta won his first gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation-ISSF World Cup 2022 stage. Arjun Babuta had defeated Lucas Kozinski of America 17-9 in the final match held in Changwon, South Korea.
