58th All-India Annual Conference Of DGP, IGP, Will Be Held In Jaipur

The 58th annual conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police, which is held all over India, will take place in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

It is highly probable that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the occasion. The three-day conference, scheduled between January 5-7, will address important topics such as counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency and cyber security.

About All-India Annual Conference of DGP, IGP

The Intelligence Bureau organized the first-ever Conference of the IGPs in India in 1920 and since then, these conferences have been held regularly in New Delhi.
The first such conference held post-independence was inaugurated by the first Home Minister of the country, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on January 12, 1950.
Initially, it was a biennial event, but after 1973, it became an annual meeting for the heads of police organizations of the states and union territories, as well as central police organizations.
Since 2014, Prime Minister Modi has shown a great interest in the DGP conference. Unlike previous Prime Ministers, he attends all major sessions of the conference.
The Prime Minister has also encouraged the organization of annual DGP conferences all across the country since 2014.

Objective of Conference

The conference will cover various aspects of policing and national security, such as strengthening borders, cybercrime, data governance, anti-terrorism challenges, prison reforms, Left-wing extremism or naxalism and narcotics smuggling. It is the result of extensive deliberations involving police and intelligence officers at district, state and national levels on identified themes.
Best practices from states and union territories (UTs) will be presented under each theme to enable states to learn from each other.
It is reported that the first major national conference will be held in Jaipur following the formation of the new government in Rajasthan.
The conference is set to take place at the Rajasthan International Center located in Jhalana, Jaipur.
Attendees will include Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers of State for Home, National Security Advisor, Union Home Secretary, DGPs and IGPs of States and the UTs, as well as the heads of the Central Police Organisations and Central Armed Police Forces.

Last year, the All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police was held in New Delhi in 2022
