The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) exam is a highly competitive examination that allows aspiring candidates to enter Uttar Pradesh's prestigious state services. To pass this exam, candidates must plan a well-structured revision strategy that focuses on key topics.

UPPSC RO/ARO Prelims: General Studies Revision Tips

To score well in the General Studies Paper, follow the revision tips we have provided below and focus on the important topics that will help you perform well in the preliminary exam.

History & Culture of India

This section's questions cover a wide range of Indian history and state-specific historical events, including Ancient, Medieval, and Modern Indian history, Uttar Pradesh's art and architecture, historical events, and famous personalities.

While revising for the exam, concentrate on the major events, dates, and historical figures. Don't forget to review the socioeconomic and cultural aspects of various periods.

Geography of India

Geography questions in the UPPSC RO/ARO exam typically cover India's physical and political geography, Uttar Pradesh's geography, rivers, and climate, as well as environmental issues and conservation efforts.

You should concentrate on the key geographical features of India and Uttar Pradesh. Practice map-based questions to learn about the state's rivers and other topography features.

Indian Polity

This is a scoring topic in the exam; candidates who understand the Indian Constitution and its provisions, the Indian political system and governance, Panchayati Raj institutions, and local governance can correctly answer static questions in the preliminary exam. Focus on the state's political reforms and policies.

You must thoroughly revise your short notes on the Constitution. Concentrate on the functions of various Uttar Pradesh and Central Government agencies.

Indian Economy

To answer economics questions, candidates should be familiar with basic economic concepts, economic development and planning and government schemes for agriculture, industry, and the service sector.

Pay special attention to economic indicators and newly implemented government programs. Examine the effect of economic policies on society.

Indian Agriculture

To prepare for Indian Agriculture exams, candidates should review key topics such as cropping patterns, E-Technology Innovations, farm subsidies, NMSA, land reforms, Food Philosophy of India, Green Revolution, Agriculture Extension Services, Seed Development, Food Subsidy & PDS, and Supply Chain Management.

Pay special attention to food management and the Green Revolution. Examine the effects of various reforms on society.

General Science

Questions will be asked based on static facts from basic Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Some of the questions can be posed in Current Affairs, based on recent scientific and technological developments.

To ace this section, review basic scientific principles and stay current on recent (national and international) scientific advances.

Current Affairs (National & International)

There will be approximately 10 to 12 questions from the Current Affairs section. Examine the short and one-liner notes you take while studying, focusing on key people in news, places, and events from the previous year. 

Focus on the most important topics in this section for the Uttar Pradesh C.A., such as sports scenarios, awards and honours, and state government schemes. Simply go through the short notes and pointers for a thorough review of the current events.

Uttar Pradesh General Knowledge

Revise notes and important points on social traditions of Uttar Pradesh and focus on National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries, environmental conventions, Institutes, festivals, Temples, Heritage Sites, Fort, Administrative Structures, Airports and so on of the state.

UPPSC RO/ARO Prelims: General Hindi Revision Tips

UPPSC RO/ARO Prelims Paper 2 is a general Hindi  that is considered a scoring paper.  For this paper, one should review the author and title of famous Hindi literature (Sahitya) books and basic Hindi questions. Revise basic Hindi grammar and vocabulary such as synonyms and antonyms, one-word substitution and sentence correction. 

Important Tips for UPPSC RO/ARO Prelims 2023 Revision

a. Create an Effective Schedule: Divide your remaining two days before the exam wisely. Set aside specific time slots for each subject, prioritising and devoting more time to weaker areas.

b. Practice PYQs: Solve previous year question papers under exam conditions, such as sticking to time limits and sitting in a quiet area to avoid distractions.

c. Quick Revision Notes: Reduce your study time by reading notes that are brief and easy to understand. Concentrate on important concepts, formulas, and dates.

d. Attempt Mock Tests: Attempt mock tests to simulate exam conditions. Understand the time management strategies and opportunities for improvement.
