The MP HSTET (Varg 1) exam is conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) for appointment to high school teacher posts in Madhya Pradesh. It is popularly known as the MP TET Varg 1 exam. This year, the MP TET Varg 1 exam was conducted from 1st to 11th March 2023 for various subject-teachers. MP TET varg 1 Eligibility Criteria

The basic eligibility criteria to appear in the MP HSTET varg 1 exam, as prescribed by the MP Employee Selection Board, have been summarised in the following section:

(a) Age Limit 

Candidates willing to be appointed as high school teachers in MP government schools should be at least 21 years of age by 1st January 2023.

The maximum age shall be determined as per the departmental rules.

(b) Educational Qualification

The MP HSTET exam is conducted separately for each subject. Candidates will have to select the subject from the available subject list. It is mandatory to possess the requisite qualification in the concerned subject. 

As per the official MP ESB rule book, to be considered eligible for the MP TET varg 1 exam, a candidate must have earned a B. Ed. along with a postgraduate degree with at least a second-division in the relevant subject (or its equivalent).

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The official rulebook prescribes the following minimum marks for candidates to pass the High School Teacher Eligibility Test:

Note: The candidates belonging to the reserved categories (SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ Disabled) will get the above relaxation benefit in qualifying marks, only if they belong to Madhya Pradesh and have a valid certificate issued by an authorised state officer. The reserved category candidates from any other state will not get this relaxation benefit in qualifying marks. 

MP TET Varg 1 Application Process

Candidates who wish to be appointed as high school teachers in the government and aided schools of Madhya Pradesh need to apply for the MP HSTET exam on the official MP ESB website. The applications for the MP TET Varg 1 exam 2023 were open from 12 to 27 January 2023.

Candidates can apply online by following the steps given below: 

  • Go to the official website of the Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board https://esb.mp.gov.in/
  • From the home page, select the “Dashboard” menu option.
  • Find the “High School Teacher Eligibility Test – 2023” option in the table. 
  • Click on the “Online Form” link under this section. 
  • A login page will open. Fill in your details and register if you are not already registered on the portal.
  • Your registration details will be sent to your contact number. Use these details to log in to the portal. 
  • Fill in the application form with the required personal details and pay the application fee. 
  • Submit the form and download a copy of the submitted application for your reference.

MP TET Varg 1 Exam Pattern

  • The High School Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted in online mode and a total of 150 multiple choice questions are asked.
  • The examination is bilingual (in Hindi and English medium).
  • Every question carries 1 mark. Hence, the exam is conducted for a total of 150 marks.
  • No marks are to be deducted for wrong answers. (Initially, a provision for negative marking was made in the original rule book for the 2023 exam, but it was later removed through an official amendment.)
  • The question paper of the MP TET varg 1 exam is divided into two parts. Part A is mandatory for all (candidates participating in the exam) and in Part B the candidates have to choose one subject from the available list.

Difficulty Level of Questions: 

The level of Hindi and English subjects will be equivalent to the Higher Secondary School Examination. 

The difficulty level of the content of the 3rd and 4th subjects will be equivalent to the mental level of Graduate students.

MP TET Varg 1 Part-B 

  • For Part B, the candidates can select one subject out of 16 given subjects as per their postgraduate degree. A total of 120 questions are asked in this.
  • The difficulty level of the content and question paper of Part B is that of the postgraduate level.

MPTET Varg 1 Admit Card 2023

MP ESB released the MP TET admit card for the High School Teacher Test on 22 February 2023 at the official website. 

The MPTET varg 1 Admit Card contains important information regarding the MP TET exam centre, shift and timings. The first part of the admit card has the applicant’s name, exam name, roll number and exam centre. Additionally, it contains the permanent body mark and the ID number provided by the candidate in the application form. During the exam, the candidate shall have to sign and impress a thumbprint on the admit card in the presence of the invigilator. 

Candidates can download their admit cards by following the steps given below: 

  • Go to the official website of the Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board https://esb.mp.gov.in/
  • From the home page, select the “Admit Card” menu option.
  • Click on the “High School Teacher Eligibility Test – 2023” link in the table. 
  • Read the instructions carefully and close the pop-up.
  • Log in using your application number, date of birth and select your subject. 
  • After solving the security question, click on Search
  • Your admit card will be displayed on the screen. 
  • Check all details on the admit card to confirm that they are correct. 
  • Download and take out a print of the Test Admit Card (TAC) to carry to the MP TET exam centre.

MP TET Varg 1 2023 Result

The MP ESB released the MP TET varg 1 result for the High School Teacher Test on the official website on 17 April 2023. Candidates should be aware that the MP HSTET result is considered only to decide the eligibility for the high school teaching posts. The result and marks are not considered for ranking purposes. Further, the MP HSTET result remains valid lifelong.  Therefore, candidates who have been declared qualified in this exam, will not be required to appear in the eligibility test again. 

After the result is declared, the High School Teacher Selection Exam shall be organised when the concerned departments announce vacant posts. Candidates who have been declared qualified in 'Teacher Eligibility Test' (MP TET varg 1) will have to participate in this selection test for final appointment.

Candidates can download their MP TET results by following the steps given below: 

  • Go to the official website of the Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board https://esb.mp.gov.in/
  • From the home page, select the “Results” menu option.
  • Click on the “High School Teacher Eligibility Test - 2023” link in the table. 
  • Log in using your application number/ roll number, date of birth and the 9 digit TAC code mentioned on your admit card. . 
  • After solving the security question, click on Search. 
  • Your result will be displayed on the screen. 
  • Save and download a copy of your result card. 

MP TET Varg-1 2023 Exam Details

  • In the 2023 edition, MP TET varg 1 exam was held from March 1 to 11 in 13 cities of Madhya Pradesh.
  • A total of 1,55,709 candidates participated in this online examination to prove their eligibility for the posts of High School Teacher of 16 subjects.

Salary Details for MP High School Teachers 

The salary for different posts is decided by the respective departments. Candidates can check the post-wise salary details from the official rulebook.

The salary for high school teachers as declared in the official rulebook is Rs.36,200 (plus dearness allowance).
