Educational Qualification

To meet the educational qualification requirements for JPSC CCS, candidates must possess a degree from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India. Alternatively, they should have graduated from other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared as deemed universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. Additionally, candidates can also hold a degree from a Foreign University approved by the Central Government or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the commission.

JPSC CCS 2023 Selection Process

The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) organises a competitive examination to appoint individuals for Group A and Group B positions within the Jharkhand state government. The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination consists of two consecutive stages:

(a) Preliminary Examination for Combined Civil Services (Objective Type) to shortlist candidates for the Main (Written) Examination.

(b) Main Examination for Combined Civil Services (Written and Interview) to finalise the selection of candidates for different services and posts.

JPSC CCS Preliminary Exam Pattern 

  1. The examination will include two mandatory papers, each carrying 200 marks, namely, General Studies – I and General Studies – II.
  2. Question papers will be provided in both Hindi and English.
  3. Questions will be asked in Objective Type and candidates will have a duration of 2 hours for each paper.
  4. The Preliminary Examination serves as a screening test only. Marks obtained in this phase by candidates declared qualified for the Main Examination will not contribute to their final merit.
  5. There is no provision for negative marking for incorrect answers in the Preliminary Examination.

JPSC CCS Main Exam Pattern

  1. The Main Examination will comprise a Written Examination and an Interview Test. 
  2. The Written Examination will consist of six papers. 
  3. The selection list for the Interview Test will be determined by the total marks obtained in Papers II to VI (5 papers in total), subject to achieving the minimum qualifying marks of 30 in Paper I and the minimum qualifying marks in aggregate in the remaining 5 papers. 
  4. Each paper will have a duration of 3 hours. 
  5. The Interview Test will carry a total of 100 marks, with no minimum qualifying marks required.
