While the vacancies for the JAG-34 Course for both categories are announced through a common notification, the selection process is conducted separately and in a gender-specific manner. Indian Army JAG Entry Eligibility Criteria 2024 

Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme 2024 Notification is out with the detailed eligibility criteria for the Indian Army JAG 34th Course. In this section, we are providing a detailed Indian Entry JAG 2024 Eligibility Criteria for your reference:-

Nationality

A candidate must meet one of the following criteria for the Indian Army JAG 2024:

  1. Be a citizen of India.
  2. Be a subject of Nepal.
  3. Be a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, or East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam) to permanently settle in India.

Note:- Candidates in categories (ii) and (iii) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. However, Gorkha subjects from Nepal are exempt from needing a certificate.

Age Limit & Relaxation

Candidates must be between 21 and 27 years old as of 1 January 2025. This means they should be born no earlier than 2 January 1998, and no later than 1 January 2004 (both dates inclusive).

Note: The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate at the time of application will be accepted. No subsequent requests for changes will be considered.

Educational Qualification

To apply for the Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme 2024, candidates should have the below-mentioned Educational Qualification:-

  1. Minimum 55% aggregate marks in LLB degree (three-year professional or five-year after 10+2).
  2. Valid CLAT PG 2024 score is mandatory for all applicants, including LLM-qualified and pursuing candidates.
  3. Candidates must be eligible for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India or State Bar Council.
  4. Candidates must graduate from a college/university recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  5. Only candidates holding an LLB degree/marksheet and eligible for registration may apply.
  6. All candidates must get their CLAT PG 2024 results verified at the Selection Centre before the SSB interview.
  7. Failure to verify results will result in ineligibility for the SSB and cancellation of candidature without appeal.
  8. No offline applications will be accepted by the Directorate General of Recruiting.

Indian Army JAG Entry Application Process

To apply for the Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme 2024 should submit their application form by 13 August 2024. Below we are providing a step-by-step guide to apply for the Indian Army JAG 2024:-

  1. Start by visiting the official of the Indian Army website.
  2. Click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’ and then select ‘Registration’ (registration is not required if already registered).
  3. Complete the online registration form after thoroughly reading the instructions. After registering, click on ‘Apply Online’ in the Dashboard.
  4. A page labeled ‘Officers Selection – Eligibility’ will open; select ‘Apply’ for the Short Service Commission JAG Entry Course.
  5. The ‘Application Form’ page will open. Read the instructions and click ‘Continue’ to fill in the required details in various sections (Personal Information, Communication Details, Education Details, and Previous SSB Details).
  6. Click ‘Save & Continue’ after completing each section.
  7. After filling out the last segment, you will see a ‘Summary of your information’ page where you can check and edit your entries.
  8. Ensure all details are correct, then click ‘Submit’. Candidates must click ‘Submit’ each time they reopen the application to edit any details.

Application Fees 

There is no application fee for the Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme 2024.

Indian Army JAG Entry 2024 Selection Process

Indian Army JAG Entry 2024 Selection Process can be checked through the official notification. Candidates have to go through the three-layer selection process for the Indian Army JAG Entry 2024 Enrollment. Check the detailed selection process below:-

1. Shortlisting of Applications:

  • The Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications without providing any reason.
  • Candidates will be informed of their Selection Centre allotment via email after shortlisting.
  • Once assigned, candidates must log in to the website to choose their SSB dates on a first-come, first-served basis. After this period, dates will be assigned by the Selection Centres.
  • The option to select SSB dates may be forfeited in exceptional circumstances.

2. SSB Interview:

  • Only shortlisted eligible candidates will attend the SSB at Selection Centres located in Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bangalore (Karnataka), and Jalandhar (PB).
  • Call-up letters for the SSB interview will be sent to candidates’ registered email IDs and via SMS.
  • Allotment of Selection Centres is at the discretion of the Directorate General of Recruiting, IHQ of MoD (Army); no requests for changes will be entertained.
  • Candidates will undergo a two-stage selection procedure:
    • Candidates who pass Stage I will move on to Stage II.
    • Candidates who fail Stage I will be returned on the same day.
  • The SSB interview lasts for five days.

3. Medical Examination:

  • Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will receive a joining letter for training, based on merit and available vacancies, provided they meet all eligibility criteria.

Indian Army JAG Entry 2024 Call Letter

Call-up letters for the SSB interview will be sent by the respective Selection Centre to the candidate's registered email ID and via SMS. Candidates should regularly check their email for the call-up letter once the SSB interview dates are announced by the Indian Army.

Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme Engagement 2024

Short Service Commission will be granted to male and female officers in the regular Army for 14 years. This includes an initial period of 10 years, which can be extended by an additional 4 years. Officers who wish to continue serving in the Indian Army after the initial 10-year period may be considered for a Permanent Commission (PC) if they meet eligibility and suitability criteria, in accordance with relevant policies issued at that time.

Upon commissioning, officers will undergo a probation period of six months. If an officer is deemed unsuitable to retain their commission during this probationary period, their services may be terminated at any time, whether before or after the completion of the probation.

Indian Army JAG Entry Training

  1. The training lasts for 49 weeks at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
  2. Selected candidates will be assigned for Pre-Commission training at OTA, Chennai, based on their position in the final order of merit, up to the available vacancies, and subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.
  3. Candidates are not permitted to marry during the training period and must not live with parents or guardians. Marriage is not allowed until the completion of the full training at OTA.
  4. Upon successful completion of Pre-Commission training, candidates will be awarded a ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies’ by the University of Madras.
  5. The Government pays for the entire training cost at OTA. If a candidate is withdrawn from the academy for reasons other than medical or those beyond their control, they will be liable to refund the training cost at ₹16,260 (as of 2023) per week for the duration of their stay. This cost will be recovered from cadets who withdraw for personal reasons.
