6th World Congress on Disaster Management will be held in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Dehradun will host the 6th World Congress on Disaster Management from November 28 to December 1. The event will address modern technologies for disaster risk mitigation.

• The state government will organise the 6th World Congress on Disaster Management in Dehradun at Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, D.M.I.C.S. Hyderabad and Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (U.C.O.S.T.).
• According to Dhami, the initiatives being undertaken globally to address the catastrophic difficulties faced by Uttarakhand and other Himalayan areas.
• Disaster risk reduction has become a significant concern. Its inclusion in the recently concluded G20 Summit and the upcoming World Congress on Disaster Management will explore contemporary approaches to tackle this problem. 

The event has enlisted Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan as its brand ambassador.

About World Congress on Disaster Management (W.C.D.M.) 

The World Congress on Disaster Management (W.C.D.M.) is an exclusive effort by D.M.I.C.S. to unite researchers, policymakers, and practitioners worldwide to discuss the many challenging issues surrounding disaster risk management. 

• The W.C.D.M.'s objective is to stimulate the interaction of science, policy, and practices to improve our comprehension of risks and take action to reduce them while reinforcing resilience to disasters.

Previous World Congress on Disaster Management (W.C.D.M.) 

• The first was in 2008 in the Hitech city of Hyderabad. 
• The second World Congress on Disaster Management (W.C.D.M.) took place in 2015 in Visakhapatnam in collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
• 2017, the Third World Congress on Disaster Management (W.C.D.M.) occurred in Visakhapatnam. 
• The fourth World Congress on Disaster Management was held in Mumbai.
• The fifth W.C.D.M. was held in Delhi.

W.C.D.M. is now the largest conference on disaster management worldwide, excluding the U.N. system.

Disaster Management Initiatives and Convergence Society (D.M.I.C.S.)

D.M.I.C.S. is a civil society initiative that was founded in 2005. It was previously known as the Disaster Management Infrastructure and Control Society but has since evolved from a think tank to a Community Centric Organization. 

This organisation is under the Societies Registration Act of the Government of Andhra Pradesh and serves as a convergence society for decision-makers, practitioners, and experts in Disaster Risk Reduction.
