Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 954 development works worth ₹6,453 crore across 17 districts of Rajasthan. Speaking at an event in Alwar on 16th August, 2026, Shah linked these projects to India's broader goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, stressing that empowering farmers, women, youth, and the poor is central to this vision. Along with these projects, another ₹5,500 crore worth of works were launched in Chittorgarh the same day, taking the total value of development works announced across Rajasthan to ₹11,953 crore.
A key highlight was the foundation stone laid for a new milk processing plant in Alwar, with an initial capacity of three lakh litres per day, expected to soon expand to five lakh litres. Alongside this, four Saras Dairy plants in Bhilwara, Jaipur, Pali, and Rajsamand were commissioned, built at a combined cost of ₹274 crore. Shah noted that expanding cooperative dairy infrastructure could help transform the rural economy and open up new opportunities, including in milk product exports.
Four new District Central Cooperative Banks were launched in Phalodi, Balotra, Didwana-Kuchaman, and Pratapgarh. These banks are expected to give farmers access to loans at zero percent interest, further strengthening the cooperative credit system in the state.
As part of the event, ₹152 crore under the Chief Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme was transferred directly to farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer. Additionally, more than ₹667 crore has been disbursed to around 67 lakh farmers under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, at ₹1,000 per farmer.
Amit Shah also spoke about strengthening Rajasthan's cooperative storage network, with 50 new warehouses planned for construction during 2026-27. This builds on existing infrastructure; 62 warehouses with a 100 metric tonne capacity and 100 warehouses with a 500 metric tonne capacity have already been completed. He added that Rajasthan currently has around 44,000 cooperative societies, with the long-term goal of ensuring every village has access to a cooperative institution.
