Madhya Pradesh Ministers to Pay Tax on their Salaries and Allowances

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet, in a meeting held in Bhopal on 25 June 2024 and presided over by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, decided that the state ministers would have to pay Income tax on their salaries and allowances received as ministers from their own pockets. 

The proposal tabled at the state government’s cabinet meeting was approved unanimously. 

In 1972, the Madhya Pradesh government decided that the IncomeTax Act 1961 on the salaries and allowances of the ministers would be paid by the state government, and there would be no burden on the individual ministers. 

The state government took this decision under the Income Tax Act 1961 provisions.

Thus, after 52 years, the state government has changed the rules.

M P Government to provide scholarship for Sainik School students 

The state government has also decided to extend scholarships to the state students who take admission to the Sainik School outside the states.

Until now, the scholarship was only for state students studying at the Sainik School in the state.

Madhya Pradesh has only one Sainik School at Rewa. 

The current Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh Tripathi and the next Army chief, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, are alumni of Rewa Sainik School.

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi will become the 30th Army chief on 30 June 2024 after the current Army chief, General Manoj Pande, retiers.
