India Wins Bronze at 2025 World Junior Team Squash Championship

The Indian men's team ended a 13-year medal wait at the World Junior Team Squash Championship by winning a bronze medal at the 2025 edition of the Championship. This is the second bronze medal for India in the Championship after Anahat Singh bagged the bronze medal in the women’s singles event.
The last time an Indian men’s team won a medal was in the 2012 edition of the Championship held in Doha, Qatar. The Indian men's team lost to Egypt in the semi-final to settle for a bronze medal.
The losing semi-finalists are awarded bronze medals at the World Junior Team Squash Championship.
The Black Ball Sporting Club in Cairo, Egypt, hosted the 2025 World Squash Junior Championship.
The men’s and women's singles events were held from 21 to 26 July 2025, and the Team Championship followed at the same venue from 27 July to 1 August 2025.
Men and women squash players below 19 years of age are eligible to participate in the championship.
The Indian team of Sandhesh PR, Yusha Nafees, Arihant KS and Aryaveer Dewan faced the United States of America’s (USA) team in the semi-final. The second-seeded USA team defeated the fifth-seeded Indian team 2-0.
Arihant KS lost to Alexander Dartnell, while Jack Elriani defeated Sandhesh PR.
Despite the defeat, the Indian men’s team was awarded a bronze medal.
Earlier, the Indian team defeated the 2024 finalist South Korea in the quarterfinals. It was a revenge match for the Indian as the South Korean had beaten them in the quarterfinals of the 2024 edition of the Championship held in Houston, USA..
India was placed in Group E along with Japan, South Africa and Germany.
They qualified for the quarterfinals by topping their Group with wins over Japan, South Africa and Germany.
The Indian women's team lost their quarter-final match against the host Egypt 3-0, and they failed to win a medal.
The World Squash Federation organises the World Junior Squash Championship.
The first Championship was held in 1980 at Kungälv, Sweden, and it featured men’s singles and team championships.
The first women's Championship was held in 1981 in Ottawa, Canada.
The championship was held every two years for the men and women.
Since 2010, the men's and women's singles championships have been held annually.
Since 2024, the men's and women's team championship has been held annually.
The World Squash Federation, also known as World Squash, is the governing body for the sport of squash.
It was established as the International Squash Rackets Federation in 1967, and in 1992, the name was changed to World Squash Federation.
