'Sanskriti Utsav 2023' has been started in the state from 25 December to 26 January 2024 to enrich the cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh and make folk art ubiquitous.

Theme of Sanskriti Utsav:

  • Uttar Pradesh Festival: Our Culture-Our Identity'

Key Points related to the Sanskriti Utsav:

  • This festival will be organised by the Culture Department of Uttar Pradesh across the state, which will include many competitions.
  • These programs will be organised across the state mainly with the spirit of preserving cultural genres like classical, sub-classical, folk theater and folk music.
  • In this event, folk music prevalent in rural areas will also be given great importance.
  • A competition will be organised at the district headquarters between January 1 and 5, 2024, in which selected artists at the Tehsil level will participate.
  • A competition will be organised at the divisional headquarters level between 10-15 January, in which artists selected at the district level will participate.

  • After this, the competition will reach the final stage after passing through three more stages and all three stages of the competition will be organised in Lucknow.
  • Under the event, there will be dance competitions related to Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Mohiniyattam and other classical dances.
  • Similarly, in folk dance there will be competitions of Dhobia, Ahirwa, Karma, Shaila, Domkach, Akhet and in folk drama there will be competitions of Nautanki, Ramlila, Raasleela, Swang, Bhagat, Bahurupiya, street drama etc.
  • In folk singing, competitions will be organised in categories like Kajri, Chauti, Jhula, Birha, Alha, Nirgun, folk songs, qawwali and songs under easy music, ghazal, bhajan and patriotic songs.
