Indian Open Badminton: Viktor Axelsen & An Se-young won singles titles

2024 Paris Olympic gold medal winner Denmark's Viktor Axelsen and South Korea’s An Se-young respectively won the men’s and women’s singles title of the 2025 India Open Badminton Tournament.

The Indian Open Badminton Tournament was held in New Delhi from 14-19 January 2025. 

Third Indian Open Singles Title for Viktor Axelsen 

Viktor Axelsen who was appearing in the final of the Indian Open for the sixth time in the last 10 years defeated Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong China 21-16, 21-8 to win his third India Open Title.

Viktor Axelsen had previously won the Indian Open singles title in 2017 and 2019.

World number 4 ranked Viktor Axelsen won the prize money of USD 66,500 for his title win and  Lee Cheuk Yiu pocketed USD 32,300 prize money for his effort.

2nd India Open Title for An Se-young

Paris Olympic gold medal winner An Se-young of South Korea had little trouble in defeating Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand  in the final by 21-12, 21-9 in just 39 minutes.

This was the second India Open Badminton singles title for An Se-young having won it in 2023.

In 2025 this was the second title for An Se-young having won the 2025 Malaysia Open singles title.

Japan,China and Malaysia win Doubles title

In the men’s doubles the Malaysian pair of  Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin defeated the South Korean pair of Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae 21-15, 13-21, 21-16 to win the men’s doubles title.

In the women’s doubles, the Japanese duo of Arisa Igarashi and Ayaka Sakuramoto

defeated the South Korean pair of Kim Hye-jeong and Kong Hee-yong  21-15, 21-13 to win the  women’s doubles title.

The mixed doubles title was won by the  Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin pair of China by defeating Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue of France by 21-18, 21-17 in the final.

About the Indian Open 

The Indian Open Badminton tournament is organised by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and hosted by the Badminton Federation of India in New Delhi.

The first Indian Open Badminton Tournament was held in 2018 and since then it has been held every year.

In 2023 the Indian Open was upgraded to the BWF World Tour Super 750 level.

The USD 950,000 prize money India Open is one of the seven BWF World Tour Super 750 organised around the world by the BWF.

Top 32 ranked men and women players compete in the singles, doubles and the mixed event.
