Indian Athletics Awards 2025: Neeraj Chopra and Parul Chaudhary honored as Best Male and Female Athlete

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) organised the inaugural Indian Athletics Awards 2025 ceremony on June 20, 2026, in New Delhi to celebrate the best athletes from a brilliant 2025 season. Olympic medalists Neeraj Chopra and Parul Chaudhary walked away with the top honors of the night, winning Best Male and Female Athlete of the Year, respectively. The ceremony featured 10 award categories in total, covering athletes, coaches, officials, and state associations.
Neeraj Chopra won the Best Male Athlete of the Year award for the javelin throw. He is a two-time Olympic medalist in the javelin throw. In 2025, he became the first Indian to cross the 90m mark, throwing 90.23m at the Doha Diamond League. He won 4 out of 7 competitions in 2025. His major wins include the Ostrava Golden Spike, the Paris Diamond League, and the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru. He finished 8th at the World Championships in Tokyo due to a back injury.
Parul Chaudhary, the national record holder in the 3000m steeplechase, was crowned the Best Female Athlete of the Year for her outstanding 2025 season. She won both the 3000m steeplechase and the 5000m race at the Asian Championships in 2025. She is also the defending champion in the women's 5000m at the upcoming Asian Games.
